Kizor: Here is an argument about Convection, Schmonvection in LOTR. It is of some interest but was in the wrong place.
- Even in the books, Gollum got close enough to fall in instead of being incinerated near the brink.
- Which is because in the book, it was depicted as the Crack of Doom, as in a realistic open chasm in the ground, extremely deep, not a giant chamber-of-flame.
- Right. A crack or fissure in the middle of a volcano...
- It wasn't in the middle of the volcano, it was one of the side-shafts branching off from the main chamber.
