Removed the following, since it is mostly Natter and Natter-bait:

Somewhat handwaved in Dungeonsand Dragons 3.5: Exotic weapons require more training (an extra feat, usually) to use, so they have more options or are just plain better for balance reasons... This would of course work except that most exotic weapons are not really worth the trouble; the feat you spend to train in them could be put to other purposes if you stick to the longsword.

  • The Fourth edition of Dungeons And Dragons got rid of the silly (and useless) Double Weapons and instead moved the Rapier and the Bastard Sword, to the Exotic Weapon category. The Spiked Chain is still there, though without it's no-one-gets-near-meality.
    • The Bastard Sword was already an exotic weapon to wield one-handed.
    • They then put them back in with a later suppliment book, alhough in an altered state.
      • The new double weapons are universally recognized as broken. For example, a symmetric double sword is both a heavy and light blade, gaining the special advantages of both.
  • In the latest tv version of Robin Hood Arab bows are described as being superior.
  • Warhammer 40000 being the Scavenger World it is, the exotic weapons are often technologically superior to the standard issue guns.
