Kilyle: Would Kaos and Den from Battle Angel Alita / Gunnm count here? Den was initially part of Kaos, a sort of split personality (The Enemy Within) until Dr. Nova gave him his own body. Fits, right?

Ununnilium: Makes sense to me.

Fly: I don't like the quote. While I've seen the episode and know why it's appropriate, other people might not, and it makes no sense out of context. Can someone offer a better suggestion?

Scrounge: I'd argue that this page itself is enough context to make the quote work, and it's kind of a specific idea. Open to suggestion if there's something out there that's catchier, but I'd put this below, say, Mighty Glacier on the list of pages that need better quotes.

Lord Seth: Put back in:

  • In the Star Trek The Original Series episode from which these tropes get their names, Captain Kirk is split by a transporter malfunction into two people. The "good" Kirk is compassionate and caring, but a spineless wimp, while the "evil" Kirk is ruthless, but has all of the confidence and strength ofThe Captain. Ironically, despite this being a case of the Enemy Without, the episode's title is "The Enemy Within."
I have no idea why someone would delete this. It's a perfect example and it's certainly not controversial at all (I could understand removing it if that was the case, the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgment would apply). It's also not subjective, it's definitely an example of this. I'm quite confused as to why anyone would remove it, so it's back in until someone can give me a reason to remove it.

Micah: I removed it, as part of an attempt to differentiate this from the newly created Starfish Character (where it fits better, as the "good Kirk" is portrayed as being as incomplete as the "evil Kirk")

Micah: Removed:

  • Venom started off as a sort of dark side of Spider-Man.
    • Thematically, yes. But he did not start as part of Spider-Man, which means he is not an Enemy Without, but just a plain old enemy.

For natterishness, and because the example looks like it belongs on Evil Twin or maybe Evil Counterpart. Does someone who actually knows Spiderman want to put it there?
