bluepenguin: Is this only for babies left on doorsteps, or could it include a baby abandoned on, say, a park bench? If not, is there a separate trope for the latter?
Cpt Button: "The door is opened by the child's adoptive parents, who are always fully accepting of the baby and their new roles as parents instead of contacting the authorities (and it just so happens that someone is always home and awake to answer the door, thus sparing the baby from dying of exposure)."
Not sure how or if to put it in, but in these scenes the mother usually lurks in the shadows to make sure someone comes to the door.
