Mass Effect's a referenced example but as a gamer I know the number of nonhuman (but human looking) lezzies hasn't been increasing over the years in games. The next two sentences are redundant. Tropes Aren'tBad eliminates the need for such a statement in entries.
The following examples I removed b/c this trope's about superficially homosexual body-pairings that're supposed to not be gay b/c the bodies are really _______ as opposed to queers of another species. Understand the difference? Juhani is a cat-girl. She's still a girl. That's different from the Asari that look almost exactly like women but are supposed to be a unique alien gender. "* His Dark Materials has what seems to be a gay angel couple.

Duralict: actually, it is meant to include homosexual binary-gender aliens; the trope is about including homosexuals in a way that obviates the need to address the associated issues of sexuality or the attendant rights/history/lifestyle issues faced by or associated with gays in the real world. I'll add a line to clarify and edit the not-human examples back in. "Aliens" is actually right there in the second sentence.
For the same reason, I'm not sure the Left Hand Of Darkness example qualifies, because in that case the othering of sexuality was meant to illustrate the very issues associated with sexuality that Discount Lesbians are used to avoid, both in the reader and in the human protagonist. Thoughts?
Masami Phoenix: Replaced the declaration of Mass Effect being "the Ur-Example " with being "one of the most well known" given that clearly the writer didn't know what Ur means, as most examples on this page are older.
