From YKTTW Working Title: The Nail Filled The Pond With Fish
Paul A: Gathering examples added by people who read the trope name but apparently not the actual description. I'm considering suggesting the trope be renamed if this happens a lot.
- The plot of Night Watch ends as this.
- Inverted after a fashion in Sliders although the changes come from traveling to other universes. The heroes decide to leave a universe exactly like their own because a fence door doesn't squeak the way it would in their universe — which has long been one of the benchmarks used for "when do we know we've come home?".
- To make it sillier, it turns out the fence doesn't squeak because the mom finally got it fixed, but the heroes don't stick around to find that out.
- In the Earthworm Jim series, the universe was destroyed, but then rebuilt. Everything was the same "except the main character of Death Of A Salesman is now named Urkel."
- in Back To The Future, after Marty returns to 1985 at the end of the film, everything is the same as when he left it - except the mall has a different name, his family and Biff have different personalities, and Jennifer looks different.
- Similarly, at the end of Back To The Future Part III, the only change is the name of the ravine to Eastwood Ravine.
