Working Title: Character As - Himself: From YKTTW

Seanette: I'm pretty sure that "Thing" is the name of the specific entity in question in The Addams Family, so referring to him(?) as "The Thing" just doesn't seem correct to me.
Maso Tey: This page seems to encompass two very different kinds of example: characters being credited "as themselves" rather than as their actors (if any); and celebrities who play themselves in fictional programs. These two don't have a lot in common, except for the phrase "as himself." (You could argue that the former is a parody or subversion of the latter, but that would make that latter the main trope, and the description is targeted toward the former, so there's still an imbalance.)

Anyway, I propose a split. Does anyone else think this is in order?
