Zhirzzh: I assume that the Surprisingly Improved Sequel is either the third movie in relation to the second or the fourth in relation to the third. This should be clarified.

Regiment: I must know: Who put Hans Gruber under Villain Protagonist, and why? He's not the protagonist at all (although he's a great character).

And now McClaine as Hero Antagonist when he's not the antagonist? Is there an Alternate Character Interpretation I'm missing?

Gruber is a Villain Protagonist in the first film because he is the one who sets the plot in motion. Mc Clane is a Hero Antagonist in that all his actions are reactive to Gruber's. Just because Mc Clane is the main character, doesn't mean they don't fit these molds.

Why is this redirected to the film namespace?

Mr Death: Because Die Hard used to be a trope, what's now called "Die Hard" on an X.
