This sequel just ruined the franchise as a whole.

This is my review on P2. I just feel like it was total crud to me in the department of story, characters, and setting. The gameplay and graphics of this game were BADASS but the story and characters despite them being more human were total crap for me.

It's like the new team of developers and writers didn't like the story of the first game because they thought that it was nothing new like the idiots on YouTube that are arguing with others of this franchise. I just get the feeling that they missed a mark of what Alex Mercer stood for.

Alex is a symbol for a science experiment being better than it's creator and the organization that made it, a harbinger of death upon the scumbags of the world, and a catalyst for fear on the vile creatures on the planet. In P1 they were speaking of Mercer, Greene, PARIAH and other runners as if they were gods that can't be stopped forces of nature in the skins of humans mind you. In P2 they throw all of that out of the window for a crappy game that's a superhero game for the twisted people that hated both P1 and Mercer.

This game disrespected the Prototype series to a high degree and the thing the developers said with this 'End of Mercer's story' thing didn't sit well with me as it did the stupid, brainless, heartless, and prideful people who are in reality complete psychopaths.

As a stand alone game, this game is pretty good. As a sequel this game is nothing but absolute b-rated Hollywood crud to a very high standard. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying this sequel is bad just not very good as people are making it out to be.

You couldn't resist mentioning the evil Christians, could you?

Evil Christians. Gotta watch out for them, or they'll ruin your video games.

Fanfiction I hate.

Prototype 3 is never happening. Ever. Activision already shot it down. Unless someone were to buy the property. So, if you're holding out on anything for that, feel free to give up.

Also, while I don't have anything against the changes in P2, I have to say that everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING that they did was because they didn't know how to start a game with all the powers Mercer has at the end of P1.

I really just want to flag this for being the crazy, paranoid ramblings of a borderline lunatic.

I'm not a Christian, but I'm cool with Christian people. They aren't Acceptable Targets, and they didn't ruin your pissy little game series. If you replaced the word Christian with Jew, you'd be considered an anti-semite and a horrible, hateful person - so why should you go saying Christians are evil? The implication is the same, you're blaming a wide group of people for the degradation of something based on their way of life. You're still being a hateful little fuckhead.

Learn how to fucking critique without coming across as a little dipshit. Swear word after swear word won't get you anywhere.

I suspect this is a case of Poe's Law. I mean, it's completely incoherent.

That would had sounded better if you yourself wouldn't had boarded the cursing train.

Ah let it stay up, it's good for a lark.

Also since Radical has sunk faster than a brick in a bathtub, it's unlikely that we'll get Prototype 3 at all.

@Blue Madness. If they did start the game with Alex having all of his powers, they should have just kept them and created new ones and have Alex improve his powers and control them along with the virus itself.

You can only do that if his end-game was small enough and required little enough skill that anyone can pick up and use the powers properly without trying.

Otherwise the beginning of the game is an unbalanced mess where players who were devoted to the first game and played it recently basically have god-mode turned on and all the other players have got a slog where they're trying to get their heads around fifteen different ideas at the same time

@timwithnonumbers. True that would happen, but look at Infamous 2. That game had the Protagonist Cole keep all of his en-game powers and he gained new powers throughout the game while only getting stronger. This game didn't even bother to do that since Activision and Radical only cared about nothing but money not the fans that loved the first game. And Alex's end-game self does NOT need to be SMALL it needs to be HUGE.

But Cole lost most of his powers fighting his first fight in the second game.

Yeah he did so why not do the same thing with Alex in this game?

That's not the point, you said he "kept" all his powers, which is not true, this is just Moving The Goalpost.

In all honesty loganvictor, you wrote 'Alex is a symbol for a science experiment being better than it's creator ... a harbinger of death upon the scumbags of the world, and a catalyst for fear on the vile creatures on the planet'

That guy sounds like an absolute dick. If you're ultimate representation of science is something that brings terror and destruction to the people you don't like (and frankly you've been hating on some pretty friggin' broad groups of people) then making him a villain is the least a normal person would do.

Ultimately they had to find someway to hit the power reset button, and they decided it would be a pretty cool idea instead of doing the usual 'lose all your powers, repeat your story again' to make the protagonist of the first an antagonist of the second. Prototype has always played fast and loose with morality, and thats embedded right into the DNA of it's gameplay.

It's not a completely new idea, the Diablo games have played around with it and a lot of people probably thought it was a cool idea, which in many ways it is. It's so much more likely that the designers just wanted to try something a bit different or cool instead of some science-hating-religious conspiracy takeover

Tom, did you even play the games?

tomwithnonumbers Since: Dec, 2010

No I didn't =D (although I find it hard to believe that Alex really was meant to the scientific bringer of death and fear to those around him). I don't think I've made any actual comments on the game right though? I joined in on a theoretical point about resetting hero's powers, which is interesting regardless of the game.

Oh is this the "fast and loose with morality" thing? Sorry that was probably an unfair judgement to make. I was basing it off one of your powers being to consume people's bodies. And it's pretty hard to avoid civilian collateral damage completely right because they wander into the dangerous areas and a lot of your attacks are pretty Ao E.

But it was unfair of me to make that comment without proper knowledge

Look Tom, I know I'm being a total dick about this but I have to point out everyone's pain and frustration circulating this game since it's not even a sequel it's more of a reboot of the first game instead of a sequel that many fans don't see. I'm probably the only one that sees this game reboot and not a sequel at all.

kay4today Since: Jan, 2011

I mostly just deny the game's existence.

Prototype 2 plays like a fanfiction where some 14 year old self-inserted himself as the new main character.
