I wonder, is the Sultan blessing Aladdin and Jasmine's relationship at the end an example of Forgot I Could Change the Rules, or Screw the Rules, I Make Them!?
The key is that it's ambiguous whether he actually has the authority to change the rules to permit Jasmine to marry a commoner, even though it doesn't really matter in practice since with Jafar out of the picture, no one is likely to question it.
Hide / Show RepliesI think it's the former (and currently tropes as such) since Screw the Rules, I Make Them! is more about securing your privileges than doing the right thing.
Edited by eroockSorry but rolling my eyes at Jafar being listed as Ambiguously Gay. He makes a wish for Jasmine to fall in love with him, dresses her up in Go-Go Enslavement and clearly enjoys the massive kiss she gives him.
Don't you think that Jafar himself should deserve the Complete Monster title ? Despite his comedic characters he has quite few nasty moments: like lying to Jasmine about Aladdin's execution for having him (Aladdin) take the lamp for him and then stabbing him once the work is done, he planes to marry Jasmine and then having her killed along her father, he tries to drown Aladdin and once he gains power he turned all Agrabah in a red hellhole
Hide / Show RepliesHe already is listed as one, on the YMMV tab where that trope belongs.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I'm putting this here because I'm a bit unsure about it myself, but I figure Mirage might be more of a Bad Butt than a Faux Action Girl, since she doesn't exactly lose any direct fights with the heroes... she just rarely gets put into them at all.
Edited by ArcolopsThe list about "tropes in the original movie" seems to include some from the sequels. Either move those entries to a separate list or make the current trope list be about the whole trilogy.
Deleted the following example from I Gave My Word because it's an example for the Kingdom Hearts video game, not this movie.
