Hi, I'm the admin for the new site. I've also been a member of TFF since 2007. Myself and the rest of those still-active of TFF's 10,000+ registered members moved to the new site after two years of closed registration, and nearly six years of admin non-presence. The old site still exists, and will remain extant so long as invision hosts it, but the entire community with two outspoken exceptions has shifted to icyboards. In fact, the only thread active on the old site in the last 24 hours is one observing how dead the place is now.
The community itself has abandoned the old invisionfree site, just like Hawk, the old admin, abandoned the community and left it to die by closing registration.
Since the community is the lifeblood of a forum, and all posts were forked, it is indeed correct to say that TFF is now on icyboards. The only thing missing is Hawk, and that's been the situation for the past six years anyway.
Moving this here for being a Zero Context Example; please elaborate before adding back to the page.
- Troll - Quite a few of them. Most of them will refuse to admit it, of course, but even a cursory glance at the site will make them pretty obvious.
Where do we request a mod to change the link of the forum to thefanfictionforum.net ?
We may also need to change some of the general information- most of it is no longer applicable since we forked the site.
Ah, it being forked explains some stuff.
You can ask for an edit to be made in this thread.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. The link provided on the page is to a different fanfiction forum hosted on the same host. Someone got in before the lock and changed it. The fanfiction forum this refers to was larger and more active, and as indicated by Shirotsume has since been forked.

- Hatedom: Not quite as much as one might expect. Most of it is Broken Base, but there are some notable exceptions.
- There is very little love for vampires that sparkle in the Books section.
- And Perfect Lionheart, in general.
I'm going to agree with everyone else, this page is a mess, either someone with editing powers for locked pages needs to clean it, or it needs to go bye-bye. I've never heard of the place, yet the entry makes it sound like it's even bigger then FF.net(which is still very much active at almost 14 years old, compared to this place, which seems to be struggling at 5 years.)
It also seems to have a gloating problem(or whoever wrote like's to gloat about the site). This page reads like a example from the Small Name, Big Ego page.
and it's got a character page that's just a list of names, with nothing else except a entry for Berserk Button on one lone user.
Edited by shoboniAlso, the link is to the wrong place. Here's the proper one.
Old TFF - http://z14.invisionfree.com/The_Fanfiction_Forum/index.php? New TFF - http://thefanfictionforum.net/
Edited by NuitTombeeThe site seems to have gone kablooy. Can this be confirmed? Is The Fanfiction Forum no more? If it is true, is there a trope for that?
Hide / Show RepliesIt's still around, just closed to new registrations and unable to be read by guests.
Oh Christ my eyes; who the hell edited these entries?!
Edited by 76.254.71.146RE: Cut There is no such thing as notability, and this: "Useless and irrelevant self-promotional article. Literally has no purpose other than to make about five members of the fanfiction forum feel better about themselves." Sounds to me like a argument based around notability.
Hide / Show RepliesSeconded. There Is No Such Thing As Notability.
There is a fine line between recklessness and courage — Paul McCartneyTFF has been a part of the fanfiction community for nearly five years. TFF has been a breeding ground that either created, or help to cultivate many fine fanfiction authors whose stories have helped to create some of the tropes currently used upon this site.
As a TF Fer myself, I have to disagree with the user Takerial. The TFF entry is more or less entirely ego stroking, and there's plenty of larger, older, more famous forums who DON'T have their own entry. As such, I see the TFF entry as being useless and self-promotional, as stated by initial proposal, and second the cut motion.
Also, the 'helped to cultivate many fine fanfiction authors' bit is misleading, as most such authors have generally joined the site from other, more famous forums, such as Bluepencil, author of Shinji and Warhammer 40k, who was originally a Spacebattles denizen - and they already had a decent reputation on those forums. TFF just popularized them to the TFF crowd specifically, not the entire Internet.
How horrible! The party has been defeated by FOEs!Then create them? You can create a page on any website that's notable, and as websites are works every website is notable. As long as they have tropes, that is.
Edited by AncientSilurianThe main difference between something like, say, Spacebattles and TFF is that Spacebattles is devoted to scifi, DLP is (as the writing on the wall says) about Harry Potter, while TFF is more on general anime. For the record, it was TFF that introduced user Bluepencil to Spacebattles. Shinji and W H40k appeared first in TFF's Evangelion forum. I'm just more active on Space Battles.Com due to the An Entry With a Bang cooperative fanfic.
I do submit it is egocentric, but hey. Sometimes people have more enthusiasm than sense. It's part of why TFF generates whole fics out of typographical errors. It fits a strange niche between genres. It's a fairly relaxed forum, perhaps too relaxed for its own good, but on its own is quite worthy of its own reputation. It's just that being known might imperil how it's so free in its obscurity, yes?
Edited by Bluepencil"Free in obscurity?" Idk, we do a lot of shitty things because we're insular.
Then again, I'm from the Naruto section.
