I'd like to consider renaming this trope. There have been cases where using the term "stillborn" for things like failed projects have caused offense and distraught to women who've lost their children to stillbirth, including on Discord, Facebook, and reddit.
The honorable Prince of the Sea: Manaphy Hide / Show RepliesSo, any hypothetical ideas? Like "Dead on Arrival Franchise"? Or how about "Freshly Slaughtered Franchise"?
There's so much I wish I could take back. With Krome Studios having closed down on October 2010, I don't think there's any hope for the Blade Kitten video game to resolve its Cliffhanger after the last boss is defeated. Any news on this yet? And is the comic still ongoing?

Whoops...it looks like the second episode got released after all. Only the PC version is getting it, it seems (it's not retroactively being applied to the PS 3 and Xbox 360 versions).
I hope you get tiny bits of eggshell in all your omelettes for the rest of your life!Do Loom and Chrono Cross count? Loom is more of an Orphaned Series, since it was successful, but the crew got reassigned to higher-priority projects and the work on sequel couldn't start for years. Chrono Cross is a Franchise Killer, and the series has 3 entries.

...Burn... Hide / Show RepliesThe literature section doesn't exist because nobody's added any examples from literature yet. Go ahead and post your example.
I edited the Sonic Chronicles entry. While EA buying Bio Ware may be a contributing factor, we don't know that for sure, for nothing was heard from the sequel since the initial statement as far as I can tell. Not to mention Star Wars The Old Republic went on unhindered.
Note: Rankin-Bass did a sequel to the Bashki Lord Of The Rings. There's even a chance that this film also still exists. Does that make a difference?
