Big Brother Complex is a dismabiguation page that covers 5 very different tropes. someone who knows the show needs to go to that page, then put these characters back under the correct trope.

So in light of chapter 199... does Kanda/Alma count as the Official Couple and Allen as a Shipper on Deck?

I would suggest caution to see how everything works out, but as of right now yes. I'm not so certain how the trope works if one or both die upon getting together as it were. Does a mutual/double Anguished Declaration of Love mean Official Couple status? I don't know.

Did Alma die just there? I mean, for good? I MEAN, THEY'VE ONLY DIED A HUNDRED TIMES EACH THUS FAR — but erm yes I guess if he did then no, it probably doesn't count. But that'd be such an evil Downer Ending.

That's why I am suggesting a wait and see stance.

This pretty much applies to the above question but does Alma and Kanda count as a Reincarnation Romance ?

Wow I guess so. Shit be complicated. Depends on whether or not you count them as truly reincarnated because don't they have some of their old memories? Is there something like mind wipe romance? I don't know. I don't think you will find much argument if you put it in their character page area through.

Chapter 200 says yes. To all questions so far. Adding the tropes now, and uhm, also Star-Crossed Lovers, I guess...

this might sound silly, but how come G.Gray-Man is not having it's own Fetish Fuel page yet? I was just wondering... surely somebody out there finds the whole manga/anime ridiculously hot.

I don't think anyone has gotten around to doing it yet.I agree though that it deserves a Fetish Fuel page. I know that there is more than one person out there who find the characters 'ridiculously hot'

Um, guys? Someone's gone through the DGM pages removing any links people have put to Onemanga pictures, apparently because they don't like the site. They've also made some other edits to the main page. Personally, I think the Onemanga changes should be reverted (not sure about the other ones). Reference pictures make the site more interesting and provide direct examples. Plus, some of the entries made don't make sense any more without the correct reference picture.

I would like to know your opinion on whether the changes should be reverted, because I'll go ahead and change them in a day or two if nobody else has by then. I see that somebody's already started reverting them.

OK, I know I haven't left this long, but I'm going to go ahead and revert some/all of the changes. Many of them were disrupting the meaning of the comments on the entry and in some cases making them nonsensical and irrelevant. At least one section had been deleted for no apparent reason other than it had an image link in it and would obviously take too long to re-word without it. The re-wording which was done to some other parts of the page in lieu of the links was awkwardly done.

Whether or not picture links should stay on the pages is something that could still be up for discussion, but I suspect that since so many contributors to the DGM pages put in links like those and there's (AFAIK) no site policy against it, the consensus would be in favour of keeping them. It looks as if the one person who made the changes has also been removing references and links to Onemanga on many other pages than the DGM one. I suggest that if problems continue we should go and ask the advice of the site administration about what to do, since it'd be a big change to the site if external links to sites like Onemanga (and Youtube, etcetera) weren't allowed.

Hi, the deleter here. I'll do my best to explain.

First, I thought I had been careful to have all of the examples continue to make sense sans pictures. If I missed some, apologies. I still stand by that all of the examples previously deleted could be reworded to make quite enough sense without outlinks. I believe most people coming here have healthy enough imaginations.

Aside from that, my major issue is indeed with the site that the links go to (mostly Onemanga). To clarify, I have no problem against Youtube or such, or other places that only show examples of a work – the problem is sites that post entire works for free, without permission from the owners.

First off, this title is licensed in America, and these servers are hosted in America. Linking to a site hosting illegal content for this region is not the smartest thing, and it would be hard convincing a higher power that we don’t hold responsibility for where we link – because it’s obvious that we do have some degree of a self-censoring process in place.

My other reason is admittedly more personal. I am a long time supporter of the manga industry. It has been a rocky journey, due to the niche audience for the products, but in America it’s finally become a real market. However even now, manga publishers in at least the U.S.A. are struggling to stay afloat. And unfortunately, there’s a problem where the less money they have to spend, the less willing they are to take risks on new titles. This problem stretches beyond America even back to Japan – the simple problem that companies spend money mainly putting out the products that will sell.

As great as scanlations are to use in the short term, they ruin this process.

If you don’t spend money on the book, why should the publisher publish? Why would they ever bother releasing similar titles unless they knew that there was an audience willing to pay? And lastly: how can the author continue creating work if it won’t pay a living wage? I guess you could say that a series like D. Gray-man is so popular that a few less buyers won’t make a dent. The problem is that it adds up, and the smaller series not getting bought don’t stand a chance against the loss of sales from these sorts of sites.

…But in the end, there is no official consensus on TV Tropes for or against links of these kinds. It seems to be an ongoing debate here. This is only my personal opinion, and despite my feelings on the matter I will not make a further attempt to delete the links until given express permission from a moderator. I say this given that my deletions seem to have greatly offended some residents here, and I am in the minority in my opinion. I hope that this explanation was sufficient.

Oh, and one last thing: you can send Private Messages to specific tropers. I think in your situation that might have been more graceful than assuming I would happen to glance here again before you contacted a moderator.

Thanks for the well-written explanation. I'm in a hurry and can't write a proper reply out right now (sorry!) so I'll just write out a quick note.

It does look as if the issue of scanlations and so forth is a difficult one. I don't know what the statistics are for whether scanlations hurt sales. Myself I buy hard copies of manga I like when it's available for purchase, so scanlations are like evil promo materials which get me hooked and then shake money out of me later on. I mentioned Youtube because (even though that's not the site's purpose) it is indeed possible to find full examples of licensed, available works on that site too, and I daresay there are other sites linked to on TV Tropes which do similar things, so I don't think it's an issue which only affects one site.

The entries could in most cases probably be worded so that they make sense without pictures. It might make the site more boring in some cases. It would take some time to reword them in a way that adequately represented the missing picture content, so in the absence of a site policy against it, I'd rather things stay as they are. (For example: the entry for Lenalee under Megaton Punch doesn't make much sense with no visual reference and only listing the word 'Lenalee', because Lenalee doesn't go in for punching often in the manga and anyone looking for it isn't likely to find an example. She's not a regular example of it. Come to think of it, maybe that bit needs some added description to explain that anyway.)

Thanks for the info about private messages. However, you have misinterpreted me somewhat. I was only suggesting that site administration be contacted about the site policy (by me or another person) if there happened to be continuing problems (eg an edit war), which there hasn't been.
