Allesindesoep: Once acceptable, always acceptable. I don't think there are any targets in here that you can't find in the acceptable targets groups, with perhaps the exception of blacks.

• This troper's father was beaten by his teachers when he tried to write with his left hand back in The Thirties. No surprise that he dropped out of school in grade four.
  • On the same line, this troper's grandpa used to get his left hand tied to a belt and forced to do EVERYTHING with his correct hand, as being a southpaw was considered a bad way. Of course, he also got beaten up, but that was also for other reasons.
  • Then it was discovered that left-handed people forced to write with their right hands could lead to dyslexia.
  • That doesn't stop parents and teachers in China and Hong Kong tying up left-handed children's hands even today!

Many of these do seem less like "unacceptable targets" and more like "we'd like these to be unacceptable targets even though they still unfortunately are." Many of these groups at best have had the form of targeting changed or watered down but it's certainly still out there and generally given a pass by society.
