My thoughts: What if Poland dubbed Live Action TV months after their US airing?

Glee gets a Polish voice cast, which premiered in 2009/10. Krystyna Kozanecka (Blanky, Jerry, Princess Morbucks) was initially cast as Emma Pillsbury.

After her passing on November 20, 2013 (days after the season 4 finale in Poland), dubbers would like to keep the dub alive and have Emma recasted for the rest of the series. Agnieszka Fajlhauer (Princess Bubblegum, Nobita Nobi) either volunteers or is chosen to continue where Kozanecka left off in time for the last seasons.

This is my thought.

It seems to me that many of these examples don't count: According to the definition, this trope seems to apply when the actor died after the character was already written out of the show, not in cases where the character was retired after the actor died. That would be The Character Died with Him.

I thought The Character Died with Him only applied when the character died, but looking at that trope description, possibly not?

In which case, neither trope name is really intuitive.

Pulled this:

  • Although the TV series has acknowledged the death of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (reflecting the death of actor Nicholas Courtney), no in-universe date is given and in the expanded universe of the show, the Brigadier lives well into the mid-21st century.
    • Well, not quite, after "Death In Heaven", where he was shown as a Cyberman (albeit one of the friendlier ones). Since it was set in the present day, one could assume he had passed away for a bit at that point.

In fact, Kate mentions her father in the past tense back in "The Power of Three". There doesn't seem to be any indication that the Brigadier's death isn't intended to be in the present day.
