This is what this site is supposed to be about. Having fun with tropes, characters and discussions. What happened?
Thirded. It's fun to compare and contrast characters from other works, so it seems like there's literally no reason to cut this out than making this site less enjoyable to visit.
Edited by CrowTR0botWhy on earth are people adding their own examples to the Unattributed folder? Its only going to cause more headaches in the future when the page needs to be split again.
Hide / Show RepliesYeah, it makes no sense whatsoever. In fact, the Unattributed examples should be put into a locked subpage And if anyone who wrote one of them wants to add them to the Attributed ones, they can make a request in the Locked Pages thread.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300¿can i add one of my comparasions?
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!" Hide / Show Repliesi already added one of my comparasions,¿can somebody correct it a bit or fix it a bit? because its my first example and i don't think it came completely right.
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"Anything being compared to Harry Potter, that was written after 2000? Probably not a coincidence, even if the author didn't intend it that way. Even if the author's never read Harry Potter. Popcultural Osmosis does that to you. Same with classic Trope Codifier characters like Don Quixote. And there's a certain few popular movies that are on here a lot that are probably also not coincidences, though I wouldn't say the authors are that innocent. Lastly, most things in anime with the same voice actors playing a pair of characters - at least, the casting is done in acknowledgement of the coincidence. (e.g. Maou and Yuusha aren't all that similar to Spice And Wolf but there are similar themes and similar settings between them).

- A man catches the eye of a Wicked Witch, who doesn't learn right away that he already fell in love with a different woman. After she eventually learns this, she casts a spell which causes the man to literally lose his heart. His body also becomes tin as a result of this experience. After a little girl kills the wicked witch, the heartless metallic man accompanies the girl on a journey to kill the witch's sister, another wicked witch. Are the lovelorn witch and her victim Nessarose and Boq from Wicked or Evamean and the Tin Man from The Wiz Live!?
This is not an amusing coincidence, it's two versions of the same characters.
Hide / Show RepliesI didn't watch The Wiz Live, but I'm guessing that was added because it was in Wicked.
I see that some of the troper entries are blank. They only show that the troper name is entered in the cited entries, but don't list any examples. The examples show up under their names if you edit them though.
Hide / Show RepliesDepends on the types of comparisons you're making. The Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgement is Law when it comes to Real Persons. Comparison with real-life persons using Tropes that prohibit Real-Life Examples are generally frowned on.
EDIT: To quote from the No Real Life Examples, Please! page:
As such, said ambiguities may end up utterly debunking such comparisons unless the work in question is itself extremely character-detail-oriented.
Edited by DonaldthePotholerI once read something somewhere (I thought here) comparing Candace Flynn of Phineas And Ferb to Jeannie Bueller of Ferris Buellers Day Off, and it was very good, but I don't really want to just use the idea without saying where I got it.
Edited by 24.119.44.111This page is a bit hard to find through the google search thing even if you already know what it's called. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Hide / Show RepliesIf you mean a remane, I have no idea how else this can be named as.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300
If it ain't broken, don't fix it. This was an unnecessary change, all it did was destroy all of the hard work people put into these pages.
