I've removed all Deadpan Snarker entries because of concerns raised in Ask The Tropers that they are shoehorned. Please discuss their readdition here instead of edit warring:

  • Deadpan Snarker: Rachel shows tendencies of this from season 4 onwards, especially towards Ross.
  • Deadpan Snarker: [Monica] sometimes, but less so than Chandler, Ross, Rachel or even Phoebe.
  • Deadpan Snarker: [Phoebe] Mostly in later seasons, she can be incredibly bitchy and snarky.
Phoebe: [after a pregnant Rachel lies to her father about having a wedding] I'm sorry I won't be able to make it to your imaginary wedding, but I'm really busy that day; I have a unicorn baptism and a leprechaun bar mitzvah.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Possibly Early-Installment Weirdness, but Joey got some good one-liners in the first season. And occasionally mocked other people in the later seasons as well, including the example mentioned in Dumbass Has a Point below.
Joey: [after Chandler accidentally reveals that Ross has feelings for Rachel and starts fumbling] That's good, just keep rubbing your head. That'll turn back time.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Of legendary proportions; it seems like Chandler can't go a scene without snarking some way - even in situations in which he really shouldn't. It's even exploited in "The One With All The Resolutions", in which he truly takes pains to not snark as part of his New Year's resolution (and gives up in less than a week).
  • Deadpan Snarker: [Ross]Though not nearly as much as Chandler, he's prone to being epically sarcastic whenever someone's acting particularly ludicrous or when he's pointing out the stupidity of his friends.
  • Deadpan Snarker: [General]Although Chandler is known as the Deadpan Snarker of the gang, the rest of the characters (apart from maybe Joey) would be extremely snarky on any other show. It's just hard to notice because 90% of his dialogue is snark, while everyone else only manages a weak 70%.

Well, if you seen the show, you'd noticed that the dialogue involves a lot snarkiness involving most of the cast.

In my opinion, Joey and Monica are misuse because their snark is only occasional and not that frequent, but all the others qualify as snarkers

Exactly my point with the characters so that's why I wouldn't have debunked every single character because even if you cut out Chandler, most characters are hilariously sarcastic with each other. And I also agree with Monica, she's hardly that sarcastic and Joey grew to be so dimwitted that it wouldn't make sense for him to be snarky either.

To other tropers though, only Chandler qualifies as Deadpan Snarker (as seen in Ask The Tropers) because it's his defining trait. Other opinions?

"Most characters are hilariously sarcastic with each other".

This sounds like World of Snark to me.

Edit: I just realized that the Deadpan Snarker entry that Augustine re-added to the page was copy-and-pasted from World of Snark. If there aren't any objections, I would like to move it to the main page, given that tropes that apply to the cast as a whole should preferably be listed there.

It's not copy and pasted it on the page. I honestly never read World of Snark.

World of Snark might qualify, but the only real sarcastic characters are a handful of the friends. Chandler still stands out as the biggest snarker in the cast and it's a defining trait of his, which is necessary for Deadpan Snarker.

The other characters more or less just snark at each other in the way any group of friends tends to do- the more comfortable you are with people the more you can tease them and mock them without it being seen as offensive. I don't think that makes them all snarkers but rather just snarky when they're together.

Agreeing with ^.

^^ I wasn't accusing you of doing that, but the exact same example is both here and in the World of Snark page.

Yes, Chandler's defining trait is his snarkiness but still characters like Ross and even Phoebe has some hilarious sarcastic that makes them worthy of the trope in my opinion. I see what you mean about the handful which was one wanted to rank their levels of sarcasm.

See, the thing is, we're trying to cleanup Deadpan Snarker and one of the biggest issues is people adding characters who aren't consistently snarky. It's not about being "worthy" of the trope; tropes aren't something you have to earn. It's about if the characters were written with the intent of being "the sarcastic one", or if they just say a few sarcastic lines once in a while like everybody does.

The difference here is that Chandler's snarkiness is one of his intrinsic traits. He consistently makes sarcastic jokes regardless of the situation, which gets lampshaded by the other characters and himself. One episode where he is unable to make a witty remark even refers to the incident as him "losing his powers". Meanwhile, Ross' snarkiness is directed almost exclusively towards Rachel, and is pretty much just playful teasing between close friends.

It's true that much of Ross's moments are Snark-to-Snark Combat with Rachel, but not always. In The One With The Lottery, he snarks towards all his friends, and in The One With The Cat, towards Phoebe's situation. These are just the first examples I can think of.

But ok, Chandler is the only one who is snarky in every episode, so is he the only Deadpan Snarker? In many other shows, many characters who are hardly ever sarcastic are listed as Deadpan Snarker just because "he has his moments"

I see people shoehorning this trope so often it's not even funny. Any character can be written to deliver good sarcastic quips given the correct circumstances, but that doesn't make them a Deadpan Snarker by itself. That's why previous cleanup efforts have been made to ensure that the only characters listed under this trope are those whose propensity to deliver sarcastic quotes is a primary, defining trait. With this in mind, I think Ross' other characteristics are much more pronounced than his snarkiness, but if his entry is to be restored, it should at least be rewritten to clarify that his sarcastic remarks are a recurring feature, not something that he does only when he is in the company of his closest friends or exasperated at others' idiocy.

In a way, both of you are correct but I still mainly side with annette12

But seriously, we're having a cleanup because of this exact issue. The idea that any character who says a snarky thing is a Deadpan Snarker. That's untrue. It needs to be a defining character trait. When you think of "the snarky one" in Friends, you think Chandler. Ross and the others are snarky, but not in the same way or to the same degree. It's the difference between being sarcastic with your friends and having a sarcastic friend, as the latter implies that their sarcasm is one of their most notable traits.

I've re-removed this entry:

  • Deadpan Snarker: Although Chandler is known as the Deadpan Snarker of the gang, the rest of the characters (apart from maybe Joey) would be extremely snarky on any other show. It's just hard to notice because 90% of his dialogue is snark, while everyone else only manages a weak 70%.

That writeup is inappropriate for the trope and from the discussion here it seems like it's totally unclear whether there is consensus for readdition. Suave Augustine, please don't jump the gun on readding contested examples.

Maybe we can leave Chandler as the only Deadpan Snarker and add World of Snark to the general folder? I don't know if World of Snark qualifies, I'm not too familiar with that trope and I have never used it

How about this?

  • World of Snark: The six main characters responding to each others' problems with sarcasm is one of the cornerstones of the show's humour. Chandler's main trait is his tendency to deliver snarky quips at even the most inappropriate times; Ross and Rachel frequently engage in Snark-to-Snark Combat to cope with their Unresolved Sexual Tension; and Phoebe usually manifests her annoyance towards her friends' quirks with passive-aggressive remarks. Finally, Monica is a Control Freak and Joey is The Ditz, making them the main targets of the cast's jokes.

For me, it's ok. Maybe I would just change the last line about Joey and Monica, because they are not always the main target of the others's jokes (Joey is Chandler's main target but that's it). For example, the main snarker Chandler is often the target of Phoebe's jokes and Ross is frequently made fun of by everyone.

I would change it to this:

  • World of Snark: The six main characters responding to each others' problems with sarcasm is one of the cornerstones of the show's humour. Chandler's main trait is his tendency to deliver snarky quips at even the most inappropriate times; Ross and Rachel frequently engage in Snark-to-Snark Combat to cope with their Unresolved Sexual Tension; and Phoebe usually manifests her annoyance towards her friends' quirks with passive-aggressive remarks. Finally, Monica is a Control Freak and Joey is The Ditz, making them less prone to snarky remarks than the rest of the cast, save for a few occasional moments.

"The six main characters responding to each others' problems with sarcasm is one of the cornerstones of the show's humour." - Thank you very much for saying that. I watched all 10 seasons of Friends and because of that show, I really love sarcasm.

re: Attention Whore-Rachel. kquinn0830 has written three entries for that trope, all three where either biased, incorrect or misinterpreted. I don't think it's edit warning because they were three different entries but I do admit that I'm the only deleting what they wrote. I have no idea what to do, please advise.
