Am I going crazy? The Golden Deer page appears blank but the page source is still there and have the content.

It is caused by an incomplete note tag. I fixed the note and the page is back to normal.

Now it's the Golden Deer's turn to get one of my sweeping edits.

I removed quotation marks around "those who slither in the dark" because that is a description, not a name.

I replaced a few references to Edelgard with the Flame Emperor to avoid spoilage.

I moved tropes and events that only happen in Heroes to their own sections.

Tropes I removed:

General

  • Odd Name Out: The name for their route is "Verdant Wind." While the other houses' routes match the house color (technically speaking for the Black Eagles' "Crimson Flower"), "Verdant" is a shade of green, not gold.
    • However it does match the original Japanese title where the Verdant Wind alludes to summer (Crimson Flower to spring, Azure Moon to autumn (moon viewing season), and Silver Snow to winter).

The Black Eagles' route is Silver Snow.

It's only really Claude and Ignatz, and to an extent Leonie. Raphael even has a weakness in bows.

  • Buxom Is Better: Hilda is noted by Lysithea to use her beauty as a means of suckering people (mainly men) into doing her jobs for her. After the timeskip, her non-academy issued outfit sports a cleavage window that she spills out of. This is likely an intentional addition to make use of her breasts (which are even larger at this point) to better manipulate men. Zigzagged with her S-support image — she raises her arms and puffs her chest out to show off her massive cleavage, but she does so out of genuine affection towards Byleth, rather than a desire to manipulate him.

This trope is about the in-universe reaction that big breasts mean attractiveness. Hilda does have big breasts, but Lysithea is talking more about attractiveness in general.

  • Ethical Slut: Despite her laziness, she has strong moral convictions and steps in to help both when her brother is sick, and when Claude is falling in battle, even apologizing to him if she herself falls. She will also never side with Edelgard under any circumstances, in part due to the severity of her intentions. This code doesn't stop Hilda from attempting to indulge in casual sex, however, as shown when she opts to trick Caspar into visiting her bedroom alone so she can try to sleep with him after her obvious flirting goes over his head. Because this occurs during their A-Support, it also means Hilda can have sex with Caspar (if she was successful in her ploy) and still end up marrying (and thus sleeping with) another student entirely by the end of the game.

This trope isn't about whores who are moral. It's specifically about attitudes towards sex.

  • Last Girl Wins: On the Silver Snow route, she is the last potential love interest for male Byleth who can be recruited.

This is a harem trope. If you can pick your wife, it's not an example simply because somebody is going to be the last recruited.

  • Moveset Clone: Downplayed, but Hilda shares several statistical traits with Ferdinand.
    • Both have Crests that potentially shut down a foe's counterattack when using combat arts.
    • Both have proficiency in lances and axes, with both being part of their default study plans.
    • Both have a budding talent in heavy armor, and upon unlocking, learn Seal Speed.
    • Hilda and Ferdinand share HP, Strength, Speed, Defense, and Resistance growths.

This is a fighting game trope; it's specifically not about stats.

Leonie

  • Boobs Of Steel: She's very physically-oriented and has a fairly large chest which, after the timeskip, surpasses even Catherine's in size, despite Leonie being much younger.

Hilda's are bigger.

  • (Hypocrite)
    • On a similar note, she gets annoyed at Lorenz for acting stuck up due to his nobility status and for looking down on her for being a commoner, but Leonie acts superior to Byleth and actively looks down on them for "not appreciating Jeralt".

These are completely different things.

  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Implied - in her C-rank support with Bernadetta, she has no qualms with taking her shirt off right in front of Bernadetta just to have a small tear on the elbow fixed.

We never actually see it, so it's not fanservice. Also it's one time.

  • Token Adult: Downplayed. Pre-timeskip, she's almost 20 at the start of the game while the rest of the Golden Deer are in their teens throughout the academy phase. It's downplayed because all of the other Deer save Lysithea are 18 at the start (Lorenz and Hilda) or turn 18 during the academy phase (Claude, Raphael, Ignatz, and Marianne).

Doesn't really count. She happens to be the oldest, but is only a few months older than Hilda and Lorenz, and is never really treated as having an age difference.

Ignatz

  • The Generic Guy: Believes himself to not have any outstanding talent in comparison to the other students in the academy. It's mostly self-inflicted: He refuses to admit his talent as an artist is anything more than a hobby, because his father wants him to be a knight even if he's not all that interested or competent in the field.

This trope isn't about what characters believe, it's about their role in the narrative.

  • Irony: In some of his supports, Ignatz wants to paint a picture of Fódlan's goddess, as while Ignatz doesn't know what she looks like, he envisions her as the embodiment of divine grace and feminine beauty. In his and Claude's support, his description of her makes Claude decide on the off chance Ignatz does manage to summon her that he needed to convince Ignatz to let him meet her as back up for Ignatz's sanity with the obvious ulterior motive of taking a hot goddess babe on a date. The goddess is actually Sothis, a sharp-tongued Mysterious Waif with the body of a child who sleeps on her throne; she doesn't quite match Ignatz's mental image of her. However, a female Byleth, who soul-merges with Sothis in Part I of the game, could fall into that image.

That's a stretch.

  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: The feminine boy to Leonie's masculine girl. He's not exactly girly, but he's sensitive and interested in art, while Leonie's more brash and focused on becoming a mercenary.

Lorenz is really the feminine boy in this trope.

  • Moveset Clone: Subverted. Ignatz shares his bow proficiency and Strength and Speed growths (35% and 50%, respectively) with Bernadetta and Ashe, but leans towards being a Utility Party Member with his rally skills, debuffing abilities, and authority boon (allowing him to use high-end support battalions easier).

Once again, this is a fighting game trope that doesn't apply to turn-based strategies.

Lysithea

  • Awesome McCoolname: Lysithea is a name that comes from Greek words "lysis" ("loosening, unbinding") and "theos" ("god").

Actually, she's named after one of the many, many women Zeus fucked. Or possibly one of Jupiter's moons

  • (Irony)
    • Her fear of ghosts takes on a very dark slant when you find out that Lysithea has very good reason to believe she'll die young.

That's not ironic.

Marianne

  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Upon the reveal of her Crest’s identity, it's the only Crest with an explicitly negative description compared to the other Crests note , but it doesn’t bring a negative effect on the gameplay and increases Might when using a weapon instead. This makes sense when you realize the crest only has a bad reputation because its original bearer turned into a beast and isn't any different from an ordinary crest otherwise.

Contempt isn't a gameplay mechanic.

  • Unkempt Beauty: Pre-timeskip she’s definitely this. Despite having a bit disheveled hair and having visible shadows under her eyes she’s still considered a beautiful young lady. In her supports with Ashe and Lorenz, they both recognize her beauty despite her unkempt look. This becomes subverted post-timeskip where her beauty becomes more apparent due to the fact that She Cleans Up Nicely.

She really isn't unkempt; indeed, Hilda comments on how well put together she is in their C support.

  • (What Happened to the Mouse?)
Whether she kills herself, dies confronting the Wandering Beast, or simply stays out of the conflict either on her own or due to her adoptive father is anyone's guess.

Please stop saying she commit suicide.

Lorenz

  • Ambiguous Disorder: Possibly has an eating disorder. He's very thin, eats very little, and dislikes it when people comment on it.

He really doesn't. Raphael just thinks everybody should eat more.

Does anyone else feel the talk on Lysithea's sheet that she can one-shot Nemesis is a bit hyperbolic? The actual requirements to do so on Maddening are intense;

78 mag (Her magic cap is 86 by the way, and she won't be getting this high until a monstrously high experience level.)

ability1: mag+2

ability2: fiendish blow +6

ability3: dark tomefaire +5

DK: +2 mag, dark tomefaire +5

battalion: +8

Luna: +1

Equals 107 damage against his 107hp.

Her capacity to do that comes more down to Three Houses having very high stat caps (Radiant Dawn by comparison had stat caps in the mid-30's for the most part) than anything unique to Lysithea beyond having Luna.

I agree that it is hyperbolic and that RNGSOMEONE's edits should be reverted.

Does anyone else find the constant comments on female characters' boobs a little off-putting? For characters with Absolute Cleavage like Manuela it makes sense to mention, since it's actually a part of the character's presentation, but it seems a little creepily obsessive to do it to EVERYONE.

Not that real-world actresses don't have to deal with the same thing, but it's kinda crude.

Could you specify entries where you think it's excessive or done inappropriately? Tropes regarding a character's physical appearance should be acceptable when done to a reasonable degree, and for quite a few it's obvious there are certain things the artist wanted the viewer to pay attention to/like/talk about. I will say I wouldn't be against more body feature tropes getting added for the various attractive male characters of course if there are ones that fit.

Unless the entry is talking like its someone fetish about the appearance or something, as long as its accurate to the character, I don't see the issue.

I wasn’t aware that you’re unable to add spoilers on character descriptions here, since I’ve seen some other pages have them.

Also previous Marianne’s What Happened to the Mouse? section has some part of it removed and replaced, probably due to being mostly just a speculation/implication(though a strong one). Readded as spoilers, but I feel like it needs the YMMV icon. If it’s unnecessary, feel free to delete.

I'm personally just a bit annoyed seeing that section of Marianne's What Happened to the Mouse? entry deleted and re-added and reworded a few times, but since where people are if they're subject to What Happened to the Mouse? is by its nature speculation, I think it's fine to have both up as possibilities. The current entry seems just fine in my opinion.

Keep in mind that Marianne states she prayed to the Goddess in the hopes she would end her life. While she sounds suicidal, she isn't saying she wants to kill herself. Rather, she feels the Goddess is the one she wants doing it. Based on that, she doesn't have enough to warrant being missing because she killed herself. That is merely extreme speculation and should be removed.

RE: Lorenz on the Blue Lions route. Can you recruit him post-timeskip if you didn't recruit him pre-timeskip or not? Right now, the entries on his character section disagree on that, and my personal experience is the latter.

He can be. I'm not seeing where they disagree on that though. Defeat Means Friendship and Face–Heel Turn both mention he can be re-recruited.
