openFantastic Medals and Awards
Do we have anything for fictional medals and honors? Couple of examples the Silver Star for Valor in Babylon 5 and the Order of Merlin from Harry Potter.
For that matter do we have an index for such things? There's an Awards Index, but that seems to be exclusively real life awards.
Edited by TallensopenRapid horniness
Basically where it's been a short time since they got together, but one of the people in a couple already want to have sex with the other.
openOutdone By Friend
Bob is some kind of loser or Butt-Monkey and has a difficult event before him (audition, job interview, contest, etc.). He asks Alice to accompany him for moral support. But during the event, Alice is the one who gets the reward Bob was going for (usually with no effort on her part), with Bob barely being acknowledged at all. Often he becomes The Resenter because of this, regardless of whether Alice protests that Bob is the one they should be paying attention to.

openTitle name in character debut
A new character has his name appear on-screen. Of course, only the audience can see it.
Edited by BlackFaithStaropenBurning the Map/Crushing the Globe
A villain expresses their desire to take over/destroy the world. They make this point excessively clear by damaging or destroying a pictorial representation of said world; burning/stabbing/tearing a map, smashing a globe, etc.
open"I've already won! Now die!" Proceeds to Lose trope Anime
The villain thinks that they're about to win the battle, and therefore boasts about how they've already achieved victory, only for their asses to be kicked shortly after.
openHilarious in Other Language
A Name Which normal in that language but hilarious in other language
resolved Minor character with implied bizarre background Live Action TV
A recurring extra is given a few lines or a minor plot thread in a long-running show, and the joke is he has knowledge and/or skills that suggest a freaky backstory, like being in witness protection or on the run from the mob/cops, having Once Killed a Man with a Noodle Implement, being Ambiguously Human, being incongruosuly intelligent (or having a Worthless Foreign Degree), having extreme or incomprehensible beliefs, et cetera. Sometimes happens to an Ascended Extra.
Edited by Mac_RopenMinion who does nothing villainous? Live Action TV
Other than Punch-Clock Villain is there a trope for this:
- Alice is a minion for Bob the Big Bad, but doesn't actually do anything villainous, and is always slacking at work. If asked to do anything villainous, she backs away and flees in terror yet never gets killed or maimed by Bob; she's Only in It for the Money.
- Alice would rather be on the heroes' side (an Expy of Luke Cage) but is too scared to contemplate switching sides.
openWhat Could Have (not) Been?
The opposite of What Could Have Been, like an actor almost turning down their most iconic role.
Edited by arimediumopenPooping unicorns
Unicorns are usually portrayed as animals who poop a lot, often with technicolor poop.
openTrapped when the thing begins moving
A characters gets a part of their body or a thing attached to their body stuck to some thing while said thing begins moving.
Edited by jandn2014openOminous Wall Scratch
Where the monster/killer/scary whatever drags their blade/claw/hand along the side of the hallway/alley wall
openPReviously unused footage finds a new purpose
Sort of a subversion (I know it can't be subverted but it's the closest way to describe it) of What Could Have Been.
Specifically referring to a promo clip filmed for Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, which was filmed in 2016 with the assumption that Hilary Clinton would win the election but went unused. However, she managed to repost the clip with new context for the 2020 Election instead.
Is there a Trivia item or something for this kind of scenario?
openYou're the only one who thinks that
A character in a group says something, clearly expecting everyone to agree. Then it turns out that no, the character is the only one in the group to think that.
In Kaamelott, King Arthur laughs at one of the knights for not speaking Latin... then realizes, as the other knights just look blankly at him, that none of them speak Latin either (this after several years of Arthur starting the Round Table meetings with a Latin prayer).
openGrappling hook creature
A creature moves around via a body part that functions like a grappling hook.
This is some sort of station or monitor where the vital signs and other information about the members of a team or crew are all kept track of, and drama can ensue when people's vital signs change or end as they're injured or killed. I'm thinking of the station in the APC in Aliens where Gorman is monitoring the vitals of the Colonial Marines, the Vitals station in the Polus map in Among Us where you can see which players are alive and dead, and the NERV station in Neon Genesis Evangelion where the stats of the Evas and their pilots are observed during battle.
Do we have something for this?
