It pretty much sounds like an Ultimate Universe, I guess.
Would this count as an example of Ultimate Universe, Alternate Continuity and Hotter and Sexier:
A series from the producers of Grey's Anatomy keeps the same title more or less, although adding a subtitle with a colon after it, but has Sarah Grey from Legends of Tomorrow portraying Meredith Grey and Maggie Geha as April Kepner, and it takes influences from the original series Grey's Anatomy and partially follows The Stations of the Canon, but puts in a lot of original ideas, and her Abusive Parents didn't happen in this continuity.
It takes some liberties with the source material, but assumes some elements of the original series happened (albeit differently), and Meredith Grey's an Adaptational Nice Guy (well, Nice Girl) with a Trademark Favorite Food of vegan soya hot dogs and sugar-free white choc chip cookies (to appeal to the Millennial/Generation-Y audience).
It runs alongside Grey's Anatomy on CTV on their line-up and Word of God claims it doesn't replace Grey's Anatomy, but is parallel to it.
Would this count as an Ultimate Universe example? Would it also count as Broad Strokes in some cases?
Sorry if this is a bit long.... trying to see if this would fit as a hypothetical example of these tropes!
