What interesting things have you only recently learned about?
To be clear, this is about things which have been true for some time and you only recently learned about, not things that only happened recently. In particular, recent deaths of celebrities and other high-profile individuals should go in the General RIP Thread.
So, what interesting things have you guys...and gals...only recently learned about?

-gives kyun a high five-
Just replace "yeti" with "thief" and you have a good movie.

I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.kyun: That's a movie about video games. It's not the same.

This is a signature.Top shelf!
The Silent Hill movie was okay, wasn't it?
"We're home, Chewie."I saw that film, it was fine! :) I have yet to see a video game movie that BLEW me away, that totally got me orgasming with hype, though.
I'm still very hesitant over Netflix Zelda.
This is a signature.Wasn't that rumor claimed false by Nintendo?
@ Wolfie. I meant it was - for a video game film - good. I didn't mean it was good as a standalone film.
The only film that was "okay" as a film was Halo Forward Unto Dawn. The litmus test for that film was my meatdad, who felt it was an enjoyable film.

Has anyone seen the animated Mass Effect movie?
Why does everyone hate Batman and Robin so much? Its like they think its supposed to be taken seriously
The 1960s version? It's dumb, because that was made in a time where superheroes were made for children. Nowadays, everything is gritty and dark and symbolic, so we look at them with that same attitude.
I think he was talking about the 1997 film...
simple asAt least for me, the film aims for Camp but fails in that much for me. It's not the enjoyable camp of the Rocky Horror Picture Show or many parts of The Silver Age Of Comic Books, it's just camp and results in groans.

"Did you expect somebody else?"And it has Arnold Schwarzenegger making terrible, terrible puns about ice.
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.Man, Schwarzenegger is the best part.
There's only one good movie with a lot of ice in it: Frozen.
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. The first two Ice Age movies were decent.
Oh shush, that's the Hype Backlash talking.
And what a backlash it is. Last time I heard somebody sing 'Let it Go', it was to irritate me.
They were told to stop it because I was getting quite irritated by them, and they only stopped when somebody else exploded at them.
"Did you expect somebody else?"I thought it was overhyped. I mean, people kept saying it passed the Bechdel Test, but that's not especially hard since the two main characters were sisters and were often individually alone.
It was a great film, but it was no masterpiece of cinema.
I haven't even seen the bloody thing.
simple asIt has Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell, so that's enough for me to love it, but I understand why people don't.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."That statement is appallingly elitist.
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. And I'm a film snob who regularly goes to watch indie films which make Pasolini look terrible.
So, I may well agree with him a little.
"Did you expect somebody else?"
Eh, there's been worse. I think one of the worst to me is To Catch A Yeti, which is pretty damned inconsistent and just a massive flop,
