[up]I hate him, but only in Traverse Town, where he made Sora his bitch.

Now anyway, Ansem the Wise says that Riku never said his name. Was he referring to the conversation, or was it a Call-Back? Because he said Riku's name aloud in Days, during one of the FMV cutscenes.

It refers to the beginning of KH 2, when he gave his name as Ansem.

[up]I know that. But it still bugs me, because Ansem knows his name.

It may have been a final test of character, like Ventus, Roxas and Xion's questions.

The entire scene was full of callback statements that reaffirmed Riku's identity and purpose, so perhaps the repeat of his conversation with Ansem, including the final question, was intended to mark the definitive end of his post-KH 'atonement'.

Yeah, man. Ansem wasn't talking literally. They both know that he knows Riku's name. As Nomura said, it's sort of an old wiseman's joke. They both know the significance of the similarity of the question.

Oh, and Riku's Wargoyle is much worse. That damn "throw you into the tower" move.

However, the Secret Portal rematch with him, when Riku has all of his best stuff, is a lot more fun. Especially since you can guard while riding the thermals with Dark Barrier.

edit:

This question is funny.

No. Because then he'd be asking Riku if he was a boy or not.

... Hey, anybody else wonder why Xemnas and ASOD have different voices?

It just seems kind of weird, considering ASOD and Terranort have the same voice actors, but Xemnas doesn't...

[up]No, I mean in Kingdom Hearts II, where ASOD and Xehanort are both voiced by Richard Epcar, and Xemnas is voiced by Paul St. Peter.

I'm well aware that they changed voice actors for ASOD, just not why he and Xehanort sound the same but Xemnas sounds different.

It's probably more to do with how Xemnas isn't really a normal Nobody, since he was split off from a heart that was both Terra's and Xehanort's and his Heartless took a human form. I see it as similar to how Sora and Roxas have different voices because Roxas as a Nobody takes more from Ven than from Sora (in both appearance and voice).

Of course, going by that logic it might make more sense for Xemnas to have Terra's voice (since he does somewhat resemble Terra in appearance), so idk. vOv

Well, he does kind of have the same Dull Surprise going for him as Terra...

But that probably ties into the alleged no heart thing.

Which just brings me to another realization/confusing thing about Xemnas... what was up with calling Aqua's armor "friend"? He's clearly got more influence from Master Xehanort than Terra, considering that he went along with their grand plan... so is him calling the armor "friend" a simple case of verbal irony, or a weird mesh of Xehanort's ambitions and Terra's value of friendship?

Come to think of it, what would he gain from talking to the armor anyway? Did he think maybe he could figure out where the Chamber of Waking was through it? If so, how did he find out that it was Aqua who transformed the Land of Departure in the first place? And what was with that "other voice" Xigbar thought he heard once... something he made up to troll Zexion, or does the armor possibly contain a much weaker Sentiment of Aqua? I doubt Aqua was communicating with Xemnas herself...

I can't help but think about how much better BBS would have been if Paul St. Peter voiced Terra.

If Aqua's sentiment did exist, then perhaps Xemnas treating the armour as a 'friend' could be an attempt to manipulate her into believing his mind is Terra's, and therefore willingly entrust him with the location of the Chamber of Waking. How else would Xemnas have known of Oblivion's existence? (barring latent memories from Master Xehanort)

In that case, Xemnas is even worse than we thought he was. And to think we believed he was worthy of sympathy after a few significant shoulder-pats and ambiguous lines...

Even latent memories from MX shouldn't explain Xemnas knowing about the Chamber of Waking, since last I checked Terranort wasn't around when Aqua created Castle Oblivion. So he probably did find out about it through Aqua's armor, assuming it actually was talking to him.

I wonder... Do you think maybe Terra was abducted to the future by Young Xehanort at some point?

For some reason, I found myself thinking about Terra's unexplainable visions of the future in BBS, coupled with Young Xehanort's line about the experiences of the future being "engraved on [his] heart", despite his conscious mind forgetting it all...

[up]Not sure if this helps, but here's what Nomura had to say about that in the Birth By Sleep Ultimania.

What's the meaning behind the several puzzling images in Terra's chapter where we cross over into his mind?

Nomura: Firstly, when he hears the name of the masked boy from Master Xehanort at the mysterious wasteland, and we see an image of Aqua and Ventus defeated, that's a hint of the future. On the Destiny Islands, when he makes Riku his successor, he has a special view of him and catches a glimpse of his future. However, this isn't to say that Terra has the ability to see the future - it was a directive nuance intended to portray the future connection between Terra and Riku.

Soooo... am I the only one who finds this to be really freaking vague? I think he's just saying "Yeah, that's not actually happening, we just threw those in for the viewers' benefit", but I'm not sure. sad

Well... maybe he doesn't see the cutscenes, but just gets that "This is a bad idea" feeling in the back of his head.

Unfortunately, being Terra, that sense that something is wrong has to work extra hard to make itself heard, manifesting itself in the form of a physiological symptom. tongue

I still don't like the idea of Terra as stupid, per se. Only Eraqus commanded as much trust as Master Xehanort did, at the time, since he was an established Master.

The real problem is Eraqus not telling them about what Xehanort did in the past.
