Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Interesting... Zazie's sister, and a Secret Test of Character...
But I have to wonder about the page I linked. Not so much Chao showing up in the classroom, but that speech bubble that ends with -yo. I know the hooded mage who talked to Fate in 295 didn't have Chao's Verbal Tic, but...
It's been fun.@Mega-dark:
""Because we have to chase them. Because they're the heroes the magical world deserve, but not the ones it needs right now. So the bad guys with good publicity will hunt them, but they can take it. Because they're heroes, the unknown prince, and the white wings."
Fixed it for you. Because there's no way, as I said before, he's going into that alone. I think that's going to be the major difference between him and Nagi at the end. Nagi eventually cut away from his friends, but as long as the basic themes of Negima since the first chapter keep up, and Akamatsu has to keep on drawing cute girls to keep his baseline audience hooked, Negi won't be cut away from his.
I wonder who would play Gordon's role there, however.

@Overmaster Gordon would probley be played by Seras, Theodora, and Ricardo. Two Face would be Godel.
I can't wait to see what Zazie's older sister looks like

Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Only for the sentiors to discover the monsters in the pit are actually Haruna's drawings and are fake. Their confession and their little screems get broadcasted around the magical world LIVE. Then they get locked up forever.
Oh how silly of me... The answer was right in front of my eyes: LET HARUNA COME UP WITH A SUITABLE PUNISHMENT! Mwahahahahahaha!

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus."A little bit of courage is the true magic."
Five bucks says that Akamatsu eventually uses the kanji for "true" and "magic" to write "courage", or combines them with the normal character for "courage" in the name for a Limit Break Negi uses at the end of the series.
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.@Radical Taoist: The first is impossible, since MSN uses mahou to mean "magic", and none of the Japanese words for "courage" have any kana syllables in common with mahou.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.RE: Ch. 297 spoilers. Hands up who got a lump in their throat. *raises hand*
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.Isn't 'A little bit of courage is the true magic' something Negi said to Asuna way back in the first volume? Aside from the phrase being the 'password' I wonder what the significance of the phrase could be?
Over in the page I responded something in this vein: The author is Japanese, so is the primary audience; and in the case with Negi's standard mode with Anya, if he hadn't been using Japanese, it wouldn't have been noticeable because English hasn't had much distinction between formal and informal speech since it abandoned the T-V distinction centuries ago. Formal mode English isn't even as distinctive as Spock Speak.

Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. — George S. PattonRather interesting that Negi claims not to view Fate as an enemy or evil anymore. Chances are that he realizes that Fate is ultimately doing what he thinks is best (or is not acting out of his own will), and is going to try to change Fate's mind rather than just punching him into submission.
And I really like the Call-Back to the first chapter, how Negi's receiving the advice that he gave at the beginning. Not to mention that the "moving forward" Arc Words have made a reappearance.
Reaction Image RepositoryI think Negi's recent interaction with Luna has had a large part in his reconsidering of his opposition from purely being 'the enemy' to being 'rivals whose viewpoints happen to clash with mine'. Granted, it mostly continues a trend that started with Eva and went on with Kotaro and Chao, especially the latter, but never before it had been played to this dramatic degree.
If you really think about it, there's only been one Big Bad-type villain who doesn't have any sort of redeeming characteristics: Chisgusa. And she hasn't shown up in forever.
The longer the Magic World arc goes on, the more it draws on all of the setup from Mahorafest. It also makes me question exactly how Chao wanted Negi to proceed here. I'm still not sure whether she wanted him to sympathize with Fate and not oppose him, or whether she was trying to prepare him for the moral ambiguity of his current so he'd be willing to oppose Fate. In my mind, one of Negima's strong points is that it shows the hero secondguessing himself, which is something that doesn't happen enough in Shounen series. The typical Idiot Hero just sort of forces his way ahead without thinking about the moral ramifications unless somebody else calls him on it..
Reaction Image RepositoryChigusa though I see all the current backstory adding so much to her motivations (especially if Mahora / Kyoto magic association is being a Puppet government of Meglo), she probably saw herself as a resistance fighter.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Ok, I should rephrase; I meant that she's the only major villain who wasn't fighting for some sort of "greater good"; Chao wanted to end The Masquerade (we think), and Fate is trying to save people. (I'm not sure whether Eva counts for this as that was a more personal attack, whereas all the others are more massive conspiracies that affect everyone).
Reaction Image Repositoryahh ok, sorry.
anyway on the whole crack crossover. a To Love-Ru crossover would be funny as hell.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!"Ah. So you can understand how does it feel" Kotegawa commented dryly, her voice rather flat by that point.
"Yes" Hasegawa replied in the exact same tone. "Yes, I believe I truly can".
They looked at each other's face for a moment, then gave each other a comforting brief pat on a shoulder.
Rito/Negi
Lala/ ? (not sure on this one Asuna isnt as energetic to match Lala)
Haruna/Nodoka cheering each other on
Yami-chan/Mana
Saki/Iincho
Mikan/Paru (Haruna)
Mio and Risa / the cheerleaders
Oshizu/Sayo
The Principal/ The Principal
I am really not a fanfic writer or I would attempt this.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!"Um, Dean Konoe...".
"Yes, Negi-sensei?".
"I understand he was rather... crass in some of his actions, but... don't you think you were just a bit... harsh on your colleague?".
"Negi-sensei, when you get to have a granddaughter, you will understand the drive behind my actions. I may be not immune to the female charms myself, but... there is a limit for everything, do you understand?".
"Clearly, sir! But, still—".
"And besides, he should count himself lucky I got to him before Setsuna-san did".
"Um, about that... she still got him at the hospital".
"Ah. Well, that's unfortunate".
Although he really didn't sound sympathetic at all.

So, I've been thinking about Chao. One, her birthday is listed as being in 1988. Two, she's still present in a world that supposedly would make her intervention unnecessary. How does that work exactly?
I have a feeling that Lala and Negima!Haruna would get along way too well.
Chamo and Zastin would probably hang out as well.
I think Mikan would get along better with Yue than anyone else; still willingly integrated into the madness, but still self-conscious about it.
@Arha: I'm guessing that she needed a false identity of some sort in order to enroll at Mahora, and that was the birthday that was given. Or her parents time traveled back to 1988. The other, more meta, reason behind it is that if a birthday hadn't been included for her, it would have marked her as overtly abnormal from the start. It's probably a similar deal to Asuna; we know her given birthday must be a fabrication.
As to why she's still around; if you're referring to the illusion that the cast is currently trapped in, the illusion isn't perfect, it's just what Negi wants. It doesn't really need to be consistent with reality. If you're talking about reality, Chao could return or simply never have left to begin with.

Reaction Image RepositoryI can see Chamo getting along with Saruyama better than with anyone else. Yes, the TLR Principal would be too much even for Chamo.
Mikado-sensei thematically fits better with Shizuna, but personality wise, she probably would find more in common with Chizuru.
and chao on one of the chapters of her vs the mages they say that they cant find anything on her at all passed 2 years ago so it is a false background. (why are we spoiler tagging this?)
