Are the levels in the first game that huge though? Dishonored seems to have pretty wide open levels too, complete with a lot of water to swim in (I assume water takes a lot of resources to load), but it runs just fine on UE 3.
It could be that Zhao Yun Ru has some sick fetish going on, deliberately designing them to look like blind nuns in servitude to the system. Also, the suits seem to have several features similar to what she wears at the end, so they could be based off the same design.
Or, it could be that the game's art designer went a bit too far applying the Renaissance dress décor, even to those who would have no practical reason for it. I'm willing to bet on the latter.

The DLC is pretty good, addresses the boss issue and further leads into the original game. Definitely worth a purchase, especially if you find it on sale.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. It's okay. There's one nicely designed level based on Jeremy Bentham's Panopticon, and a couple of okay areas on board the ship, but the quest design is a little backtracky and the narrative material slight. It's no "missing link" in the narrative despite its title and its narrative implementation. There's also precious little thematic connection to the main game. I don't know about anyone else, but I hold DLC to higher standards than main game levels.
It doesn't so much "fix" boss encounters as offer a single one that's more an extension of actual play. There's very little remarkable about it, and it's kind of easy. It's certainly not terrible though.
However, it doesn't pass the "three good encounters, no bad" smell test.

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.actually not really. When you get right down to it, water is mostly empty, and it has exactly one surface that can be repeated. As far as RAM goes, it's as expensive to load an ocean than it is to load a pond, and those are both cheaper than loading a cardboard box. The problem comes with simulating it so it actually looks like water, and that's a CPU bound problem.
Other than that, though, yeah, Dishonored has huge levels, but if you look at them, they more or less follow the same direction. You can use a background thread to stream content from your HD to RAM, but just like with Youtube, you need to be able to build a good buffer to make it seamless, and that requires knowing approximately where the player is going to be in the next few minutes.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterHehehe, this game certainly had Crate Expectations. But, strangely enough for a stealth game with so many cardboard boxes, you couldn't actually hide in any of them.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.No room for Hideo. Oh wait, that was MGS 4 wasn't it?
If there's one word to define that story, it's "meticulous". Deus Ex is more like... "awesome"?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Got Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut, a significantly reduced cost because I had the game + add on. So far I'm liking the directors commentary and the fact you energy cells now recharge to two instead of one. Also new game plus sounds good.
This version incorporates 'Tongs mission' and 'the missing link' add on, as well as various weapon DLC apparently.

My latest Trope page: Shapeshifting FailureI got hold of that DC version as well. Like it so far.
Still can't get over how the Director's Cut actually made the boss fights worse. I can't get past the second Tyrant on hard with no Typhoon augment. The fundamental problems (their ability to drop Jensen in seconds while tanking 100 bullets) still remain only now there aren't any simple ways around them. The hacking process just gets you shot in the back.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Yelena, right?
I've learned never to try and hack my way out of an active gunfight. I bring a few auto-hack devices in case things get tense and I need a computer hacked. Setting down a few mines on the route up (preferably EMP mines) are also a good way to try and buy time.
I think it would have been better if they actually changed the cutscenes and stuff so the boss started off not aware of you.
Like, well, The Missing Link boss.
I haven't played the director's cut. That's what I had thought they were going to do.
I also hoped that they would let you bring turrets into the rooms. I think you can only do it for Namir's battle in the original which is a shame because I lugged around my turrets for quite some time in anticipation for the boss fight for the first two. I bonded with those things only to be cruelly separated by the cut scene.
I just realized. We're playing as Inspector Gadget.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Yeah, we are in a way. If Inspector Gadget could enjoy being up to his new cybernetic armpits in blood and gore, should the mood take him.
Nah, my Jensen is a Man of Peace.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Something is happening. Might be PS 4 version teasing, might be just PR for iOS game or just something else.

Started a playthrough, and ghosted the entire first level. Stealthed the entire thing without touching anyone. No one knew I was there besides the hostages and the saboteur.
Thread title changed per request.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell played.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I won't be able to ghost everything. lol I just did it for the first level. Earned a crapton of XP that way, tho.
Oh, I also pacifisted the entire prologue.

I love the expression "pacifisted".
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
The problem isn't bulk memory, the problem is RAM and processing power. You could easily fit a remake of the first game in modern formats... but you probably couldn't run areas as big as it had, with acceptable performance.
