By the way, now that Nu and Lambda are in the same game together, what's the differences between them?

I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I've been playing for three years and practicing what he can do since CP dropped....so yea, I can kinda do that legit.

I don't play either of them so the simple version is that Nu has more full screen control and does more consistent damage, while Lambda is more rounded between space control and close ranged combat.

Lambda is basically Nu's Luna stance given flesh. Also Nu can't stance change any more.

So I just realized....

The way Jin treats Noel is not so different from how a Tsundere heroine in a Harem Comedy would treat The Hero....only the genders are reversed and there's no romantic feelings between them.

What's surprising to me is that, just like in these Harem Animes, Jin is getting away with it—in universe at least, because out of universe, his treatment of her is seen just the way said heroine would be seen—which is a surprise to me.

Truthfully, I'm just glad people don't pretend Jin is still awesome for doing it and prove what we said about how it wouldn't be appropriate if the genders were reversed.

I know how you feel. It may have been one thing in Calamity Trigger, but how Chronophantasma handled it is a bit of a problem. The first time, Makoto was on hand to help Noel repair the damage overnight, but the second time with Ragna... I honestly wonder if Jin cares that this is no time for nonsensical arguments, and that if he fucks up because he can't get along, Tsubaki will get the ass end of it along with Makoto and everyone else. That he hasn't done anything to get over this issue is why he's jockeying with Relius for the #5 slot on my favorite character list. Just like the plot shitting all over Ragna (my #2, BTW), it's getting old, and if things don't improve for him, there's going to be a schism about how to resolve Ragna's fate at a time when the protagonists don't need one.

Wait, what? What did Makoto even do to "repair the damage overnight"? All I remember was her ignoring Jin calling her friend trash and scum in front of her. (yes I still mad) If Imagine were here things would be different.

Honestly the game's approach that he's just being tsundere all of a sudden is just.....lol.

Thinking more about it, the number one thing that pisses me off in writing is when the narrative glosses over or excuses really bad behavior.

Like I'm alright with Kagura, but some of his lines and actions are in bad taste. The characters are only ever displeased with his sexual harassment or escapades in a comical way, as if it's some type of endearing character flaw that won't ever change.

Nothing Kagura does in-story is that bad. Honestly, I'm more worried about his alcoholism, but that's more personal of my part.

It's when we get to his post-battle line to Makoto that I jump three feet backwards and say "NOPE".

And how you guys mentioned, Jin's treatment of Noel don't involves any romance, so I don't would count as a gender-reversed situation of a violent Tsundere. It's just bullying.

*facepalm* This song and dance again...

Makoto was paying attention to what Jin had to say during the presentation, and commented on how he can have his game together when push comes to shove (we get a demonstration during Remix Heart 24); after that, Jin does insult Noel, but she wasn't oblivious to it, as her final quote of Chronophantasma Chapter 11 is, and I quote, "Cheer up, Noel. Okay, good night." Afterwards, we get that attack from Arakune, which require Makoto and Celica to stay up after hours to help Noel recover from that. Can you honestly say Makoto didn't try to brighten Noel's spirits off-camera, especially since she was ready to fight in the morning, both physically and emotionally?

And off to Kagura. Yeah there's a lot of people who rose a stink because of his intro and outro quotes with Makoto. Let's be honest: you don't just ask to grope a woman's breasts in public and not expect retribution. As for his outro, his commentary points out that he didn't go through with it after all, because if he did, Makoto would likely kill him. Speaking of Kagura's one-eyed wyvern, Makoto's commentary with Hibiki shows an utter lack of surprise that Hibiki has multiple complaints about Kagura's behavior, so the ladies in-universe do have a problem with him on that front, too.

Its definitely Played for Laughs tho, but most of his more...skeevy moments are arguably in jest.

As for Jin & Noel...I don't condone bullying in the slightest, but he's at least at a point where he(barely) tolerates her and isn't outright homicidal like CT right...

CT Jin was all kinds of crazy. That's Nox Nyctoreses for you, I guess.

Note that I'm not saying it's exactly the same, just that some things remind me of that kind of situation (only Jin hates Noel just for being Noel, which is pretty unfair), but the shit he heaps on her does make me think of it.

Personally, I'm just waiting for when this shit stops. But that would require Noel to chew him out, and with how he acts around her, that'd just make things worse, even if he does deserve it.

Its probably not going to be addressed, at most I just expect Jin to give a sort of apology.

Noel is an Extreme Doormat if it doesn't concern fighting for her friends, so she just....kinda takes it.

Well, I hate that.

Those abusive Tsundere Harem girls shouldn't get away with it, and Jin shouldn't either.

We need less forgiveness and more calling assholes out until they are crying and/or viciously pummelled.

I didn't know Dustloop was dying. I figured it was a pretty big hub for fighting games.

It isn't so much dying, but rather acknowledging that its not very beginner friendly and sometimes discourages them from posting. So we're trying to make things more welcoming...and organized.

x9 It's a fact Makoto ignored it, acknowledging it with a "cheer up" doesn't really change anything, especially when she just leaves afterwards(and only comes back because of Arakune). Also you can't claim anything happened "off camera" when there's no proof, or literally no mention of it. Noel being ready to fight "physically and emotionally" isn't proof, we saw her become Mu and stand up to Terumi(but not Jin lol) to prepare for the fight on her own without Makoto.

This is kinda funny because I remember a dialogue created between Jin and Makoto hundreds of pages back before CP was released that had her call out Jin on his treatment of Noel lol.

With Kagura, it's just annoying to me how it's all played for humor.I have to deal with guys like that irl, so that behavior of his is just unacceptable to me. I feel like the game is trying to call blatant sexual harassment "jokes" or "teasing", it's kinda familiar to me, shifting the blame on the harassed party by not being able to take a "joke".

Well we might get something, Asami Imai herself got reeeally riled when she saw how Noel was treated whenever her character wasn't there.

Well its more how bullying in Japan is treated compared to virtually anywhere else, it seems like in Japan you're not meant to retaliate against things like that. Which just bugs me.

"bugs you" is an understatement, that's just...fucked.

Unacceptable behavior is still seen as bad no matter the culture. From what I've heard it is approached differently, but that doesn't mean bullying or ignoring bullying is seen as good.

But yea, Dustloop. I've noticed it's become less lively over the years. I made some character recolor templates for story portraits, I wonder if I should post them there? I don't think they're good enough though, so idk.

Its not so much that its "acceptable" but rather, you're supposed to show "humility" and zen by taking it in. Since Japan is all about being "proper", punching someone in the face because they bullied you is really looked down upon.

Its fucked up, but that's culture for ya. Noel might be popular in some circles in Japan because she takes all of that shit from Jin and is still herself.

Still hoping someone calls him out tho.
