I guess in the end, Mori wants to make sure that Joany remains in our hearts.
Our Remix Hearts.
I'm not sorry.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...You mean like a fighting game?
"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiFighting games are not known for their storytelling chops, you know.
And even those that do have some of it, it's completely divorced from the main gameplay and instead become VN with fitan mini-games thrown in the middle.
The two are kind of hard to mesh well in a convincing way, which is why some don't even bother with plot to begin with.
To give Blazblue some credit, it's one of the first games of the genre to try so it's not like we can't expect it to be....good.
Risetter, are you still salty Noelly got shafted in CP :V
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. But it's still Blaz Blue's main genre.
A genre that benefits from having an expanding cast.
Maybe not in a story sense but in every other sense it does.
I actually have no idea who you're responding to but y'know.

"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiFighting games by nature have always been better at presenting likable characters with nice little arcs than they have been at presenting full compelling narratives. The composition of my favorite characters in video games is about 48% RPG characters, 48% fighting game characters, and 4% characters from everything else.note
Blaz Blue is no exception of course, except unlike most fighting games, it's actually trying to tell a full narrative. (Methinks there's a reason the series was conceived as an RPG.) There are some elements of the story that I find enjoyable, as much as I and other fans love to rag on the Kudzu Plot. Despite the messy plot, the dialogue and voice acting are actually pretty sweet overall. If the immense page count of this thread is any indication, we care about the cast overall. Despite the intensely dark elements (especially in CP), the series hasn't dipped into Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy for the majority of fans. When the story wants to convey an emotion to the audience, we feel that emotion to a degree.note The gag reels, witty lines, and self-aware moments set out to make us laugh and they do so successfully. The heartwarming moments make us feel warm inside, and we really want the sympathetic characters to pull through when they're in trouble.
In that sense, I see Blaz Blue as the Metal Gear of fighting games. Its storytelling got messier with each new installment, but the presentation of the story (dialogue, character interactions, sense of humor, range of emotions) is fantastic.note For a fighting game, that is pretty impressive. And because it's a fighting game, of course it doesn't hurt that the characters are amazing.
What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King Sageno im offended @ mai's presence
Estimated shipping time: 2-4 weeks.Oh that's understandable...meh, I saw it coming so I'm not as affected. Look on the bright side, if she's playable you can use her as a training dummy.
For the most part yea, the series is pretty messy when it comes to plotting but the scenarios and characters themselves are well-written enough so that I at least give a damn what happens to half the cast.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yeah Mori has always, imo, been far better at writing characters than he is at writing plots. Hence why this series is at its best when it goes for more of a character-focused narrative, as whenever it tries to be plot-driven, it falls completely flat.
On another note (mentioned this in the GG thread), doesn't this theme sound like something that Daisuke Ishiwatari would compose?
So I managed to shoot Noel out of Thor with Jin's Hiyoku Getsumei Super. Needles to say, it was pretty fucking cool....and completely by accident. I meant to Yukikaze.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.As long as you acted like you meant to do it at the time, that's all that matters.
like all good things lol.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. From the creator Blazen, I bring you all episode 3 of Alter Memory Abridged.
So I take it that we're never going to see Ada evolve?
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyThis ep felt kinda sloppy to me.
Then again its Alter Memory, the all new epitome of fucking awful fighting game anime. Kinda makes me miss the old Art of Fighting anime movie, the Samurai Shodown OVA with female Amakusa and Street Fighter Alpha Generations

I stand by my opinion that Kill la Kill is a far superior Blazblue anime.

Even worse than the SFII Anime?
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Are you kidding? The SF 2 anime movie was fucking great. That leaves fucking Assed Memory in the dust.
Now I'm beginning to get some Bile Fascination with Alter Memory and Remix Heart

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yeah, I can understand why that one wouldn't appeal to people, though I kinda liked it myself.
I'm weird that way.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh, Street Fighter IIV. That effin' thing
Truth be told it was pretty fun at the beginning and had so much fucking outrageous shit, but after Ken VS Vega in Barcelona it just got confused and stupid.
I think my stand out favourite bits where
- A guy performing a Hadouken and eating it.
- Dhalsim teaching Ryu and Ken the Hadouken
- Bison's epic 30 second long giggle fit
- Cammy as Nina Williams
- Sagat and Ryu as BF Fs long before Street Fighter IV did it.
- Charlie looking like Jean Reno
- Ryu and Ken being gayer than Ruby Rhod dating Liberace
To be fair on the Charlie thing, I'm 90% sure that the anime predates Street Fighter Alpha, which is where we first saw what Charlie looked like.
One Strip! One Strip!
Well, I always figured Blaz Blue would make a decent waifu simulator.
