This thread is for quick questions. A "quick question" is a question which has a relatively quick, generally factual answer; a question which is not likely to inspire an extended discussion.
e.g.
Quick Question: How tall is an average ten-year-old boy?
Not a Quick Question: Why are Americans obsessed with guns?
Quick Question: Why is ALS sometimes called Lou Gehrig's Disease? Who was Lou Gehrig?
Not a Quick Question: In Alan Dean Foster's Thranx Commonwealth series, is Pip a Mary Sue?
Get the idea?

One thing I learned by doing was that there are two ways to get a learner's permit here. You can take a written test, basically the same as the driving exam, or you can produce proof you're enrolled in a driving school and they just give it to you.
We didn't know about that difference and tried to get my permit sometime between when I enrolled and when I had written proof. I failed the written test because I wasn't expecting it, and it had sense-defying questions.
I'm pretty sure my driving school also exempted me from the BMV written exam for the license itself, but that's because I was already taking tests at the school, and got good marks (IIRC, an A and B, not sure which was written and which was practical).
I still had to do the practical for a BMV tester. I failed my first test in five minutes because we were doing it at rush hour two days before Christmas, and when I was trying to execute a lane change, my first opening got cut off and I was concentrating so much on finding another opening that I almost drifted into the median.

Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes. Is there a thread somewhere on this forum about finding pictures for characters/places?
I've seen some on other forums.
Are Ikea meatballs fully cooked? If not, can they be safely cooked in a microwave?
That, obviously, depends what shop you're at, but (at least in Britain. Or at least, in the one near me), they're fully-cooked. But generally, any meats are safe to reheat in a microwave. Hopefully.
Just make sure that the food is hot at the centre. If its, not, then you better reheat that shit to death.

Information from several sources—including cooking the meatballs themselves—has told me they're fully cooked.
What eye colour should a humanoid shapeshifter have in default form? entirely black irises, entirely black eyes, entirely white eyes, entirely whites with visible pupils or something different?
My latest Trope page: Shapeshifting FailureI think something like that would have to depend on what they shapeshift into. Or it can be your personal choice; I doubt something like that would require an intrinsic reason. Unless the shapeshifter wants to be able to blend in with humans or something- they'd have normal eyes; or they spend most of their time around other members matching their shapeshifted form- they'd have eyes that look less human.
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."I'm assuming they can only take human shapes. Perhaps I will take this question to the other thread.
My latest Trope page: Shapeshifting FailureOkay, even though I don't mind it, but...
How come my Avast makes the "Avast! Virus Database has been Updated sound twice? (And on the second time, it alerts me with a pop-up telling me it's been updated.)
Just asking...
Just floating around...I don't suppose the first time it sounds it means it's starting the update?
Fresh-eyed movie blogI have Avast on my home computer; I didn't know it made noises.
If the sounds are at least a few minutes apart, I'm pretty sure the first time is to signal that the update is starting, and the the second tells you that it was completed successfully.
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Does anyone know how well Nakido works or how trustable its program Nakido Flag is?
I have two questions:
1. Is ther any vitamins, minerals, etc. that can remedy my excessive sweating? I don't sweat that much but I do know that my sweat is smelly and when I wear heavy clothes or when I am in warm environment I end sweating profusely and I feel warmer than usual. Is that normal or is it excessive sweating?
2. I am trying to execute Charlie combos in Street Fighter Alpha 2 but I am new to the combo thing and I end up failing to execute it. The A.I. in the first game is ruthless and I want to be able to execute my moves better so that I keep up with it. Is there an easier way to do Charlie's supers? I cannot do a charge and then a shoryuken at once.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."On the sweat thing, increasing your zinc intake may help. One of the symptoms of a zinc deficiency if foul body odor.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.How exactly are you supposed to interpret TV broadcast ratings? I mean, if a show gets, say, a 6.0% rating, what is that six percent of?
Here's a good, simple explanation.

How long does it take to go from a mention of balsamic vinegar to a Lucky Star reference?
Edit: I found a proxy answer: top of the second page on a Youtube search.

[repeats what she said]
There's a character in Lucky Star who has a...rather memorable scene involving her obsessing over balsamic vinegar after seeing it on a cooking show. I was just wondering how long it would take for a mention of balsamic vinegar/vinaigarette to bring up that reference if it was mentioned among a bunch of geeks. Like us! (...no offense.) Of course, asking the question by itself doesn't exactly work.
However, I found another way of answering my own question.
Looking for the name of a type of dinosaur. It has a fin-like collar around its neck like Vaporeon, I think? Might have just had two fin-things on the sides of its head like some dragons do. And I think it stood on two legs.
But that's about all I remember and I can't find a picture of one anywhere and it's really bothering me. It was my favourite dinosaur as a kid because it just looked so freaking cool.
I used to watch Cops and other police procedurals, so .08 being the legal BAC limit is pretty easy to remember.
I took my written driving test a few days ago- I live in Ohio -and much of it was common sense and thus very easy. We don't know what state you live in. I'm sure they have the digest of driving laws at the test site; if not, check the website for your state's bureau of motor vehicles.
I do recall getting a question about how long a license suspension lasts if [insert violation] occurs, but the requirement for passing was 90%.
