Vita visited the nursing home she usually went to when they visited Uminari City for a vacation, so she needed to make the old ladies there think she had grown.
With regards to Vivio not visiting her grandparents even once, I'm guessing its just a matter of convenience. Sure they may take casual trips to other planets, but since Earth is an Unadministrated planet, there has to be some sort of official reason for Nanoha to go there. The Sound Stages in Strikers state that they were there due to a Lost Logia, and just took a side trip to visit their folks and friends.
Vita played croquet with the old folks in their old neighbourhood fairly often, so they're going to recognise her for sure.
Visiting family isn't a valid reason? That's rough for Nanoha.

Oh, so we're good enough to give our scarce Magical Girls away to people who have plenty of them, yet we aren't good enough to even being given an official nod as anything but a back lot even our natives can't visit without a say-so.
The TSAB was able to make a call to Nanoha's cell phone under their own name while she was on Earth. They have some kind of official relations with the planet; maybe not openly, above-board, maybe via a front corporation or something they're running, but they're keeping an eye on us.
Also the idea they'd recruit from Earth and then refuse to allow those recruits to take leave there is ridiculous.

Nous restons ici.At the very least, Nanoha constantly keeps in touch with her parents, so I'm guessing it's not a big deal for the Takamachis if their youngest daughter doesn't visit them often or vice versa. My headcanon tells me that the only time they visited Nanoha was during her accident.
Though you really had to wonder how they reacted when Nanoha called and told them she has a daughter now.

Well, this is the same family with the woman who okayed it when her 10-year old daughter told her 'Mom, I have to leave for a few days and I can't tell you where, but Trust Me Because Reasons'.
Dress it up with all the excuses you want, but any normal sane parent at that point would have gone 'Ah ha ha ha well, FUCK NO'.
Any normal sane non-Ninja Bodyguard parent, yes.

So (adoptive) brother-sister incest is OK with them, but not homosexuality?
IIRC, isn't that in Triangle Heart continuity, where Shiro's dead, and that Shinobu Tsukimura won the Kyouya-bowl? Plus, you forgot that Miyuki's a cousin.
It still counts as incest if it's between 1st degree cousins, which Miyuki is in that continuity.
Anyway, going by the ninja-bodyguard family logic, it is okay to send your daughter to a potentially dangerous mission as she continues the family tradition, but suddenly having a daughter should definitely warrant a surprise, especially since in the ninja-bodyguard world, Best Her to Bed Her probably applies.
In Japan that does not count as incest actually, only direct relations.
Or most of the world, for that matter.
Check out my fanfiction!Anyway, like that doujin aptly stated, Shiro Takamachi should be hunting down whoever he thought was responsible for her dear daughter having a child at such a young age (he thought it was Yuuno, and threatens to cut him up).
You mean she didn't tell them that Vivio was adopted?
"Yup. That tasted purple."What was the name of this doujin. I recall reading it, but I can't find it again.
I did find Utter Annihilation / Full destruction though.
Edit: I know we can't link to manga scans, but are we allowed to link to doujins?

It was the first time Nanoha introduced Vivio to her parents, and Shiro was acting all weird about it. A different kind of doujin states that Nanoha did tell her parents beforehand through letters, but Momoko didn't tell Shiro.
The doujinshi in which Shiro was going Overprotective Dad seems to have Momoko as being much more level-headed; IIRC he didn't even hear Nanoha when she tried to explain, too engrossed in his monologue as he was.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Didn't she also purposely withhold the fact Nanoha adopted Vivio from Shiro as well?
Yeah, she did. For the Lulz.
And in the last page, Momoko shows us and Vivio just where Nanoha got her propensity for overkill from.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I thought that was just Raising Heart being Ax-Crazy.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Raising Heart is just Nanoha's violent side crystallized and given voice.
And in the comics' omakes, she spends most of the time trying to silence that voice.
Check out my fanfiction!Because she's embarrassed about Raising Heart's constant blabbing about how she wants to blow shit up, yet she never opposes the idea.
Well to be fair the Omake flanderises everyone to hell and back, so...
"Yup. That tasted purple."
