i mean clearly they're the same person
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeAmateur? Naoto's a professional, dude. By the proper definition, too.

Song of the SirensThat's basically begging for a Crack Fic.
Hey, I'm just quoting Chie. And Naoto doesn't bother to correct her, either. (Actually, isn't it mentioned at one point that Naoto isn't getting paid?)
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. And yeah, Teddie's living in Yosuke's closet now, like Yosuke is.

I sure said that!Rest in Peace King Moron, in the sea of souls....
Watch me destroying my countryKing Moron insults the guys and makes the girls feel uncomfortable.
Kashiwagi insults the girls and makes the guys feel uncomfortable.
So at least the replacement has similar character traits.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.Almost finished July. Aced the first term finals, got a "+5 to all stats" accessory from Nanako. Nice! Did some more social links: Chie up to 8, Yosuke to 6, Kanji to 5, Dojima to... 6, I think? Or 7? The first one after the Expression check limiting progress. Still haven't hit max Expression to continue with Nanako. Started Rise's link and got it up to level 2. Teddie's went up to 3. (Do you ever actually get control over Teddie's, or does it just auto-level like, say, the Investigation Team link?)
I'm noticing that Persona 4's social links seem to be more about exploring that character's backstory than giving them their own personal story arc like Persona 3's were. I don't see that as a good thing or a bad thing, exactly, it's just a bit different than how P3 did it.
As for specific comments: man Rise comes on strong. I was delaying Chie's SL because I wasn't sure if I wanted to stick with her or make Rise my primary girl, but I'm definitely going with Chie. Though it did make conversation prior to Rise's SL opening unexpectedly amusing. ([Rise] Senpai~ <3 [Everyone else] *Sweat Drop* [Chie] ...this girl is dangerous.)
In plot terms, some random schlub is on the Midnight Channel now? Okay, sure, whatever. I'm not sure if I have to rescue him or defeat him or what. Weird.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Teddie's link auto-levels, yeah. It's the game's way of making sure that no matter how much of an antisocial dick you are there's at least one individual you forge an unbreakable bond with.
I forget, does Persona 3's mandatory unbreakable bond come into play during the ending? Because that seems a bit awkward given plot events.
IIRC, the only Social Links that auto-level in P3 are SEES and the Nyx Annihilation Team (which are the same group of people).
Ah, right.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. It's always Fool, Judgement and one other that usually has some relevance to the overall theme of the game in question.
Basically, don't worry about getting close to Teddie, that happens automatically.
I sure said that!I find it kinda funny we're saying "always" when it's happened... twice.

Song of the SirensI'm going to play Persona 3 Portable for the first time. I'm not going in completely blind ( the game runs on a limited amount of days so you can't goof off for too long, Yuri Lowenthal dies at the end, it's like a Shenmue open world with dating sim elements and pokemon-esque turn-based monster battling I think), but I'm blind enough to know next to nothing about the plot. Except the ending. Because Watchmojo spoiled it for me.
Any pointers for a first time player, or should I go in as I am and see what's up?
Set your party members to manual control.
Song of the Sirens- Unless there's a specific deadline, most Tartarus sidequests can be postponed completion up til....3 days before the deadline. You'll need to grind a little for some of them though. Best do them ASAP.
- Go as far to the top floor of Tartarus as possible. If you can reach the furthest floor possible, you're most likely going to be fine for the upcoming story boss.
- Take advantage of discounts. Discount day for Pharmacy is Saturday and Police on Monday.
- When you get into enemy encounters, try to end the battle with a Shuffle Time(MC defeats the last enemy, enemy beaten by virtue of All-Out-Attack, critical finishes, One More Time as well, I think). Green symbols(aka Wand) are exp/stat boost, yellow symbols(aka Coin) are money, blue symbols(aka Cups) restore HP, red symbols(aka Sword) are weapons.
- Part-time jobs are useful for increasing 2 social stats at a time but are slower than the Arcade Machine in Paulownia Mall.
Having a Persona of a character's Arcana boosts how much your Relationship Values go up.
Also to a lesser extent your Charm stat, so you may want to boost that.
If you're tired, always go to the Nurse. You get a free boost to Courage that doesn't use any time.
Working at Be Blu ups your Charm and Academics. Chagall Cafe ups your Charm and Courage.
Golden Shadows are a bitch to sneak up on. You need to be directly behind them. Anything else and they'll be gone.
Enemies only drop parts for Elizabeth's requests when the quest is active, so make sure they are.
Getting a Persona with Invigorate or Spirit Drain early on will really help with dungeon crawling and save you money.

Your endgame level, social stats, money, any special items you earned from completing Social Links, and Persona Compendium.
Your attributes (Charm, Academics, Courage), Persona Compendium, weapons, money, the main character's level (which is a double-edged sword since your party members won't get any EXP) and items that allow fusion of the Max Social Link Personas.
So... most everything.

What difficulty? Because Persona Compendium cost scales with your difficulty level.
Naoto, yo. With an o.
Yosuke's folks apparently just accept that he's adopted a blonde kid with a perpetual sugar high. Best offscreen parents.
RIP Morooka, prince among pricks.
