Seems that Shadow Marie was dropped rather close to release. Like, to the point that the PR folks who worked on wallpapers and such knew about her.

Got the game today on whim, to hold me off until Smash Bros 3DS. As my first foray into P4 proper, I gotta admit, it's awesome. The menus, the music, the presentation, the characters, just a very soulful, stylish, fun and beautiful game that's looking to be one of my favorite fighters this generation. I haven't even started story mode yet, but I played like 6 hours straight. Loving the menu theme.

So far I've really taken a liking to Akihiko(guy is boss), Adachi(love his Terumi palette and dickery), and Yosuke who was always my favorite design out of the P4 main cast aside from Naoto. Rise is really cute in this one and Teddy is HILARIOUS, I can see he's the Faust of the game. BTW is the P4 opening selectable as a regular song or only during Rise's special? Or worse, it's DLC huh?

I like Junpei too although I can't see me actually doing well with him. He looks cool though.

The dual katana guy is fun to use but Idk his character feels fanfic-sih lol. Like they're trying too hard to make him cool. I tried using Chie a little but I couldn't mesh with her, akihiko's attacks have so much more oomph to them. I wish Ceasar was a bit better though lol.

You know it's kinda a shame none of the other P4 characters personas change in the way that Rise's did. Her persona even takes off the mask that covers its face, which frees her hair and shows her eyes and everything.

Sho/Minazuki essentially is a fanfic character. If this is your first foray into Persona then don't expect this game to be representative of its writing. It kinda sucks in comparison to the other games.

You gotta take into account too it's a fighting game spinoff and not an RPG soo of course it's not going to match with the quality of the regular games. But really so long as its a fun ride, it doesn't matter too much.

I try to avoid using auto-combo too much as it feels sort of scrubby but it seems like it's really difficult to do a manual version of them, are they possible?

I kinda want to play Marie since I'm a sucker for that Amane pallet, but she doesn't seem to do well at all when rushed down. Probably gonna stick to Naoto.

I like that Shadow Teddie's Nihil Hand gets the cracked eyes.

The second and third hits of autocombo are unique attacks, so using them in certain situations can be advantageous, like Naoto's high-low mixup.

I actually like Minazuki, and his reasons for doing stuff isn't the same as Sho's. Heck he actually possesses Sho at one point when he was so angry that the screen was turning red. I almost expected Sho to start speakin in angrish.

The first few hits of an autocombo are essentially your jabs. It only goes into real scrub territory once they automatically use special moves and supers. There's nothing wrong with pressing A three times or so. You can look up which moves are normals and which are specials on Dustloop I think.

That's lame, what moneygrab that is. They know damn well they could've just been in the game by start.

I tried playing a match online in ranked and lost? Lag :/ + elizabeth full screen beams FTL. But there was like only one dude there, blah. Hoping for more guys later on in the day but there was a room of 4 in player match. But I have to go to work soon and player matches just take too long to start.

I started story and it starts off kind of boring and could really use more fights but once they get to the school it starts to get more interesting. Yusuke = best character so far and Yu/Chie are cool company too...but Yukiko or whatever her name is sucks HARD, easily my least favorite member of the cast so far. Her airheadedness is too unbelievable to be enjoyed which just makes her personality seemed forced.

Ar System Works has turned into the king of cashgrabs lately, and unlike Capcom it doesn't seem likely to blow up in their face any time soon. -_-

I do respect Atlus USA for trying to make everything as reasonable as they can though. Free DLC is best DLC.

Not to mention with how awesome Adachi turned out and the good job his English VA did, more than makes up for it.

I finished the P4 story and I ahae to say I'm disappointed. After a two game build-up the bad guys turn out to be some dickbag teenager, his dickbag split personality, and a fire demon? What a letdown! The P3 story better be more satisfying.

I was more disappointed by the FB's difficulty. Maybe they didn't want it too hard becausse persona is super casual friendly? Idk, but I was disappointed I didn't die more.

I understand there was some disappointment that this game's villain turned out not to be a certain other villain from much earlier in the series...

Someone on persona general posted this summary of Naoto's novel. Apparently the Robot Guy isn't into her, or any human women for that matter.

Also calls her a pervert when he saw girl's underwear in her room, cause he thinks she's a boy.

I'm thankful to be honest. Nyarly learned at the end of EP that he lost because of man's infinite potential as beings of chaos, and that they could exceed him.

At the same time though, I was kinda hoping he was actually a mythical being under Nyarly's control and was just amusing himself.

What really disappoints me about Kagutsuchi, besides the bland design, the Generic Dooms Day Villain goal, easy boss fight, the contradiction in how he came to be, gloating about his Evil Scheme, not killing Yu when he had the chance, and how he actually seems stronger as red fog than with a body, is that they waste money animating him appearing and disappearing instead of using it for more productive means like both Izanagis fusing into a giant kickass sword to strike him down.

Instead the plot tells us this happen, and we get a shot of both Izanagis faces even though that shouldn't be possible with their current form.

Robot Guy doesn't have sensors as good as Aigis, I guess.

Because the disco-esque music is going to be revealed to be evil, of course.

Kagutsuchi is the son of Izanami, and killed her by being born. So basically she gave birth to the concept of destruction, and by doing so became the first being to die. I have no plans on playing another stupid spin-off, but it sounds thematically relevant to me.

And when he was killed by Izanagi, his blood formed into Mikazuchi, who's had a number of roles around the SMT franchise including, of course, Kanji's Persona.

Any killing of a minor Goddess is unintentional from what I've seen so far.

His main concern has been the IT, who he says he has a special connection to due to being born from the fog, and specifically waited to enact his Evil Scheme until after Yu came to town.

I always preferred to see him as a mythical example of Death by Childbirth as his dad proceeds to kill him just for being born. This one was already born but lacked a physical form, so he sought to summon one.

Oh hey! I'm starting the P3 roue, and one of the people I suspected as important is in fact a Shadow Operative!

It's Kikuno, the maid mentioned in the last game and also a trained Helicopter pilot.
