A homing attack seems to run contrary to the whole momentum business... The need to use such a thing in the 3D games is one of their big downfalls, I think.

I don't see why the homing attack can't keep Sonic's momentum. It may shift it in a different direction, but if he kept the momentum, that could make for some interesting jumping tests.

Komodin, you're not the typical Sonic fan. You can actually stand playing Sonic 2006.

Really, I can't say. After hearing the fact that Sonic was never about speed to begin with and how the series has gone, I try my best to advoid the series altogether and not think about it. Though, I'm not so proud with Super Mario Bros and Pokemon, either, but it's minor.

Could there be a fanbase much worse than Sonic's? {{Spyro The Dragon?}}

Every single thing with a fanbase has a subsection of whiny morons. The larger the fanbase, the louder that section gets. To say every one of the fans is like that is a pretty bad generalization.

It is really amazing how far Fandumb can go. I mean, it's only 5 seconds of gameplay footage.

But I guess that the Sonic The Hedgehog fanbase is legendary in that regard.

Is it me, or are people missing the point of my complaints? At least they're reasonable, unlike the WTF complaints about green eyes.

Cronosonic, it is five seconds of probably not-even-final gameplay footage. It's foolish to judge what the entire game will be like from five measly seconds, even if it is a downloadable game. Lighten up a bit.
If I were complaining about gameplay? Yes. But when the level visuals are so blatantly pre-rendered like in both the screenshots and the video, it's really not hard to assume that they'd use pre-rendered visuals for all the levels, otherwise there'd be a clash of visuals.

Though, I guess the animations might change, but this is Sonic Team. My hopes aren't high. I'm one of those who think Unleashed was rather bad, really, it's filled to the brim with Fake Difficulty.

ITT, Crono would rather have Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 2.
I hope you're being sarcastic, because that's the last thing I'd want.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'd put up with these things if the gameplay is good. If. As I said, my faith in Sonic Team is at its lowest ever.

You sure they're pre-rendered and not just rendered?

I'm fairly sure the animations in the video are nowhere near final.

The "classics", both Rushes, Chronicles and the Storybook games. Yeah. I thought the Adventure games were fun, as well.

Also, yes, I am sure they're... Well, what I mean by "pre-rendered" is CGI made into static images. Like Donkey Kong Country, basically. It's pretty obvious it's like that. Such visuals don't age very well, at best.

Edit: Also, someone on the SSMB pointed out that it's rated E. As in, it actually has a rating. Which means it's close to being finished.

It's on Wii Ware. YES!

FRIGGIN YES.

On the other hand, I really don't want to end up paying $70 for this. I'll probably buy half or so.

If it's true 2.5D, there's no real reason to use models instead of sprites, is there?

The backlash about 5 seconds of gameplay footage of a game still in the Beta stage just shows how broken the Sonic fanbase really is. Already crying Ruined FOREVER! beacuse the logo Isn't the fat old chubby Sonic people remember from their ever-so-holy childhoods. Wow... Just WOW.

Still this game is looking half decent.

The obvious solution to the non-chubby-Sonic dilemma is to use a fish-eye filter.

I see your point, then...but I'm not quite certain how you're so sure they're pre-rendered when the level (that, again, we've only seen five seconds of) is flying by so fast, and there are no screenshots that I can find that aren't poor screencaps of the trailer.

Edit: Also, someone on the SSMB pointed out that it's rated E. As in, it actually has a rating. Which means it's close to being finished.
Really? The official site says Rating Pending, and searching for "Sonic the Hedgehog 4" with and without "Episode 1" on the ESRB site doesn't turn up anything.
