It was apparently pretty popular in Japan so not surprised it’s getting love here.
I like the series.
Thinking about finally paying for a subscription service with Anime Strike. 5 dollars per month and the entire Kara no Kyoukai catalogue? Awesome
Wow that took a long time! :O I didn't think it was a hit here: Americans are not really fans of classic literature, let alone Japanese literature.
Does anyone recognize the anime shown at 0:30 in this Yandere Simulator video?
I believe that is Little Busters.
Futaki Kanata from Little Busters, yeah.
Now likely with 95% less salt since there's no Yuri on Ice to dominate the categories lol
What anime will be the NEW choice for the judges to give 95% of the awards to??
Whatever dominates the outside demographic.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"x2 Yuri on Ice
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Crunchyroll Picking Yuri On Ice over almost everything else in the categories it was nominated in last year is probably gonna be their Never Live It Down moment, It seems.
not that I blame anyone, since I found Yuri Onice to be a bit overrated and overpraised myself.
Watch SymphogearI loved it. But damn the salt was so good.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Kono Suba not winning Best Comedy is probably the thing that annoys me the most of those awards. I also feel like Yuri On Ice overlapped with Re:Zero on a number of categories despite being completely unrelated shows and Yuri On Ice took all of them.
Anyway, let Princess Principal win an award. Best OP at least.

Princess Principal didn’t even have the best OP in its own season.
I mean, Kakegurui was right there.
What's precedent ever done for us?My Never Live It Down moment for Crunchyroll probably has to be inviting Digibro, a narsassistic and egotistical analyst, to their first convention.
Seriously, though, if they don't decide to pull the same stunt like they did last year, I bet the second seasons of MHA and AOT will win big, as well as Eromanga Sensei.

They invited literally every popular anime youtube critic.
Thing is, I doubt there will be another Yuri on Ice scenario this year. That was a case of lightning in a bottle because not only did that series crossover into the mainstream, but it also benefited from coming out in the Fall right when the voting was starting.
For good or ill, no anime this year exploded in popularity the way Yuri on Ice did last year, so I don't see any one dominating all the categories. That and because of the past controversy, I get the feeling that they'll avoiding nominating literally the same series over and over in all the same categories like they previously did.

I didn't finish it. I heard it was a copout, gay-wise?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.People were upset that the kiss got obfuscated, but’s other than that the pairing was well received.
Um well it started like a usual gay-ish sports anime like Free! or All Out where you think they would just include them for girl-targetted fanservice. Then near the middle of the anime, the twist comes: "oh... it really IS about a gay relationship! They weren't just wimping out like every other anime!" The writers wanted to make a regular love story without it being yaoi or use any stereotypes in the two main leads, and as a result, all of the internet went fuckin ballistic!!!

Except it has already happened in anime and manga many times long before Yuri On Ice was a thing. The latter just got more Social Media response because our current time has more social media influence to it. and no, Its still Yaoi, because Yaoi is literally Guys Love, regardless of whether it is "stereotypical" or not.

Watch SymphogearNaah, bara is a specific (mostly, but not exclusively pornographic) genre aimed at gay men, and it’s a pretty old-fashioned term for that genre as well. The generic term for gay manga outside the stylised BL aesthetic is ‘geicomi’ (yep, literally ‘gay comics’).

What's precedent ever done for us?The way I heard it was that people mistakenly thought that YOI had lesbian relationships, because they were unaware that Yuri is a popular name in Japan and Russia. Am I wrong on that count?
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Generally everything in that department are either Yaoi or Bara, there isn’t really any other categories.
Yes Yuri is specifically about well Schoolgirl Lesbians but aimed mostly at guys even though it originally started out aimed at straight girls back when it started. Yuri is also a girls name in Japan.
... so when reading the title in Japan you either have lesbians on ice or a girl on ice.

I liked the first season. I quit in the middle of Season 2 once it began to focus on more convoluted intrigue and side characters, along with a very long flashback.
