I chanced upon this fascinating and well-researched thread and urge anyone who's remotely curious about French-Belgian comics to read it. You won't be sorry.

We need more Franco-Belgian comic references here. It's like the world consists of American Comics and Manga...

Yep, we need more of these. I created the page for Spirou And Fantasio, but most of my collection covers far less notable series (or series that already have their own pages, like Tintin, Lucky Luke or The Smurfs).

We should at the very least have a page about Jean Michel Charlier (co-founder of Pilote with René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, and probably at least as important as them for French comics). Or at least for some of his major comics work, such as Buck Danny, Barbe Rouge (now mostly known for his cameos in Asterix) or Tanguy And Laverdure.

I also agree that we need to add more entries to French Belgian Comic Books. I added half of the existing entries, but there's a lot yet to be mentioned. Note that some graphic artists of the French-Belgian school, such as Gotlib and Frederic Boilet, are referenced in the Creators index. Perhaps they should be cross-indexed.

I've created a first version of the Barbe Rouge page. More are forthcoming.

@ Jhiday: Good job. I see that Anke has also added an entry for Sillage.

Yepyep.

I also tried to start an article on Blueberry, but I'm having trouble coming up with a succinct summary. In particular, I'm not sure if the Young Blueberry books should be split off, or how to deal with the whole "subseries" stuff in general.

@ Anke: IMHO you may treat it as part of the series, just as Young Spirou is mentioned alongside the main series of Spirou And Fantasio. Just throw in the fact that it's a Spinoff Babies.

Okay, I've added entries for Rene Goscinny and Andre Franquin.

Does Lanfeus De Troy exist in English? It's like a low-fantasy Gurren Lagann mixed with Star Wars and Order of The Stick... Bloody Hilarious, and goes between Getting Crap Past the Radar and Refuge in Audacity.

@ Raw Power: It's referenced at Lanfeust, and it would seem that at least the first two albums have been translated. Not sure about the others.

I've added Buck Danny. Anyone else familiar with it?

I am, but my father has taken my albums hostage. I'll try to contribute to it later.

On an unrelated note : we should have a Titeuf page, but I have absolutely no familiarity with it.

Hello, I added a page for Achille Talon today and some Troper helped to complete it, thanks to him.

We need a page about Pierre Christin out of Valérian and the awesome work he made with Enki Bilal.

On the subject of Rene Goscinny, although it's not a comic book, how about Le Petit Nicolas? I love these books. They have an unique sense of humor and very interesting characters.

Lanfeust doesn't get crap past the radar, they're completely obvious about the crap they're pulling. Tits, ass, and more fart-jokes than you can shake five trolls at.

@Cao Cao: I never owned any album, but a friend of my parents once lended me a pile of 1958 Journal de Spirou magazines, that spanned a full Buck Danny adventure (Top Secret + Mission dans la vallée perdue) and snatches of some others.

Just started a page for Johan and Peewit. Thinking about a page for Trondheim's Monstrueux.

A page for Luc Orient would be nice, but I don't know the series all too well, so I don't think I could write one. Anyone else?

I love Seuls! Here are some more recent BD series: Tamara, Les Nombrils, Le Petit Spirou, Yoko Tsuno, Pierre Tombale, Melusine and Le Marsupilami. Sorry if I repeated any.

Yoko Tsuno is more a 70's series. The others are not 'classics'...

Bob Morane is a classic. So is Diabolik.

Do Blake And Mortimer count as Franco-Belgian?
