Play it for irony. Songs won't necessarily be 100 percent accurate.
Or, hey, Light Yagami.

Mirrors on the ceiling, the pink champagne on ice
And she said, we are all just prisoners here of our own device

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.A Dante/Hohenheim AMV with "Bust Your Windows".
Solf J. Kimblee: When You're Evil
Ichigo Kurosaki: Silent Melody
Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea:
EDIT: Oh, who the seven hells censored it?! Anyways, better version, though they cut out the funny beginning:

Fear is our ally. The gasoline will be ours. A Honey Badger does not kill you to eat you. It tears off your testicles.Gurren Lagann: Ai wo Torimodose intro.
Dear TV Tropes Forums... I'm sorry for leaving you for Gaia. Now I left Gaia and have an affair with Tumblr. Love, me.Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood to Games Without Frontiers by Peter Gabriel, to go with the whole War Is Hell bit. Probably starts out with large amounts of Ishval, then move on to Scar to Wrath vs Greed to Briggs to finally the Promised Day. Father wouldn't appear except for his eyes on one or two of the "if looks could kill they probably will" lines. And the "creepy sleep-talking" from the first opening would be good for some of the background "jeux sans frontieres" lines.
...Heck, I have a whole plan for that. Anyone want to recommend me some good free software for making it?
Oh, and seconding Envy and You're Gonna Go Far Kid. At least one iteration of the chorus would have to be Roy's utter ownage towards the end, once that gets animated. Dance, indeed! And one of the "show me how to lie"s would have to be Roy!Envy trying to trick Riza and getting a gun in the face for its efforts.
...I found one sort with that song of the first-anime homunculi, but I think it works a lot better just with Envy.

How about more classic rock AMVs that aren't AC/DC. I look for them and the only ones I seem to find are the more obvious choices. The most obscure classic rock AMV I've ever seen was Barry McGuire, Eve of Destruction done to Gundam00.
I'm still waiting for some Hellsing/Black Sabbath (they're out there, but there aren't many).

I love this song to bits, and every time I put it on I think of Lucky Star.
(Also; strangely I also think of the Caramelldansen dance).>_<
Play Again? Y/NWhat about a Misa video done to "Get Rid Of That Girl" by The Donnas?
Or Lovefool by The Cardigans.
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!"Shoot Your Gun" by the 22-20s, for Revy from Black Lagoon.
"I know you hate to need us, but why do you need to hate? And where you'd learn to shoot without restraint?"
"Well could you be a mother, could you ever find a love that you would not place yourself above?"
"Why'd you have to kill to feel alive?"

Epic, sir!
Followed of course by the Meet The Classes videos. I can imagine it now... *laughs at the image of Kimblee calling himself a Black Scottish cyclops*

Now I'm imagining Scout!Ed.
*Cornelo walks into the room just before the Engineered Public Confession*
Ed: Yo what's up?

Oh my God...somebody touched Francois! WHO TOUCHED MY GLOVES??

Aw man, you could go on forever. Especially the Philosopher's Sandvich. Hell, the choice of Ed as the Scout works particularly well for Meet the Spy.
"What are ya, his fan club?" "No, that would be your childhood friend." "WINRY!?!?"
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.IT'S PEOPLE! THE SANDVICH IS PEOPLE!
The entire Love Dodecahedron of Ranma 1/2 set to Mellencamp's Hurts So Good.
"Come on baby, make it hurt so good. Sometimes love don't feel like it should -omph- you make it hurt so good!"
Another good combination would be a Louise (Zero No Tsukaima) tribute set to Joan Jett's I Hate Myself For Loving You
Here Holding Out For a Hero is set as silly parody to the funny bits of Full Metal Panic, but I think it would also work great to have a played straight version. Using bits from the first season, and even The Second Raid.
A more obscure match. I think Yagami (and maybe young Kyoko) of Maison Ikkoku could really use a tribute matched to "Don't Stand So Close to Me" by the Police.

^...Naota?
I know absolutely nothing about the song, and that likely doesn't fit in the least, but he at least kindasorta fits that part.
I have a message from another time...
