What is it about that film that has meant so many adaptation attempts?
They made a Cross Atlantic Translation film, then they made La Femme Nikita. I think they tried again with another pilot before this as well.
There's also a Hong Kong film called Black Cat, based on the french film... at least according to Wikipedia.

Great! Now we're just missing pages for Black Cat and Point of No Return.

Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project! My favorite part was the use of "The Step and the Walk" by The Duke Spirit. They're my favorite band and it's cool seeing them get more exposure. Maggie Q in black lingerie during that scene didn't hurt either.

Maggie Q looks amazing in this... it's nice to have an (incredibly foxy female) asian lead for a change.
I don't watch much TV, but I'll try to catch this when I can. I wonder if they're going to try for a Spy Barbie approach like Alias did.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxGood action, good T&A and I loved the twist at the end, which already has me shipping Alex and Nikita.
Trump delenda estI'm really interested in learning the backstory between the two. She would have to have a very good reason to agree to go along with something like that.
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!Well episode 2 did give us a good look at the backstory and apparently Division had something to do with her parents deaths so there's your motivation.
Trump delenda estI'm calling it right now: Nikita killed Alex's parents under orders from Division.
alliterator: That was my immediate thought, too. Nikita killed Alex's parents as a job for Division, then forges her into a tool to bring down the organization. Once they defeat the Division Big Bad and his flunkies, Nikita hands Alex a gun and says, "These [corpses] gave the orders, but I was the one that actually killed your parents and ruined your life. It's your call." Then there's DRAMA! as Alex decides what to do, leading to a cliffhanger ending.
Also, I hope that Nikita gets to keep that sniper rifle. That thing was friggin' sweet.

"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxI figured the same thing, actually. The only difference in the scenario I can think is that it will be down to the end, with just Alex and Nikita left with the Big Bad... and he'll drop the bomb that Nikita pulled the trigger, turning them against each other.
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project! This show is getting more and more interesting. Nikita is proving to be a capable player of Xanatos Speed Chess. I liked her "backup" bug on the computer programmer, but I'm kinda wondering why we didn't see any results of that before... I understand the need to prevent The Reveal of the Red Herring for a couple of episodes, but that wouldn't change the fact that Nikita should've been getting extra data on her last couple assignments from that bug as well instead of relying entirely on Alex for Division mission data as she has been shown as doing.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxI wonder. Exactly which kind of Villain/Hero love trope DOES Michaels and Nikitas relationship qualify as? I mean, there HAS to be a trope in there somewhere (considering them rescuing each other every other episode and the level of The Dragon/Heroine UST), but I can't figure out if it's Foe Yay, Dating Catwoman or something else.

Not the strangest. Strange enoughI just finished the first episode.
Hot damn.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartBoth of those, although, until Michael's Heel–Face Turn it would be a matter of opinion as to who was Catwoman.

Well, the latest adaptation of the french film Nikita has started, and this time is a U.S. TV series of the same name airing on The CW. I have added a work page for it at Nikita, which could use some good old-fashioned wiki magic.
Since I didn't see a thread for it yet, I figured I'd go ahead and start one. Please feel free to discuss the new series here. Be sure to follow the standard spoiler policy for currently running shows... use spoiler tags for appropriate scenes in the first five posts after a new episode has aired, after which it is considered "fair game" and no tags need to be used.
My thoughts on the pilot: I feel like this series has gotten off to a great start. The action was good, the characters were relatable, and Maggie Q is extremely easy on the eyes. I was also pleasantly surprised by the Reverse Mole reveal at the end.
I will definitely be following this series if it continues this way.
