So Iacon is down and I can't work on Limine or play with my bro on Borderlands.
Anyone care to link me the download for that mod you keep talking about? With research, aspect, Taint and what not.
That'd be Thaumcraft, whose site lives here.
I'd rather pass on EE until EE 3 is released. Like Thaumcraft, EE is being completely redesigned, and from what's been said so far, that includes rebalancing and added worldgen stuff (The philosophers stone will be taking a lot more cues from things like Fullmetal Alchemist). Completely ignoring the balance, EE by itself doesn't really interest me as it stands, as cool as the power toys may be.
Honestly, I don't think EE is too bad as is, so long as you don't use energy collectors. After all, just a single piece of dark matter needs the equivalent of 9 diamonds.
But then if you don't use the automated resource generation, you're introducing another mechanic I don't like much: excessive grinding. I'll probably install Buildcraft and set up a mining dimension with quarries so I don't have to worry about resources very much and focus on exploration and cool builds, but even so.
Okay so I got the Forge thing installed without problems.
Now I'm supposed to drop the Zip file from Thaumcraft into my mod directory.
Am I supposed to create that or I haven't found it yet?
I think you're supposed to make it, but I'm not entirely sure. You can put a folder into your .minecraft directory.
BUT be warned, Thaumcraft does not work with 1.3. It only works up to 1.2.5.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryIf you run Minecraft after installing Forge, it should set up the directories, I think.
Forge is basically an unofficial modding API. If you run Minecraft with it and nothing else, on the surface everything will be vanilla Minecraft.
I see.
So I created a file. Maybe it'll work, but I gotta download 1.2.5 first.
Any clear link? I googled, but I am wary of all the site that goes "MINECRAFT 1.2.5 FREE!" out there. Call me paranoid.
At work.
Investigating.
There's a sign with this face staring at me in my bedroom: O_o
In response, I made this face: O_o
For a second I was miffed, but then I thought that was unnecessary so I thought it funny. Also sweet that someone would do something like that for me.
Who was that.
Your minecraft room or your real one?
:smug:My Minecraft room.
If I saw that in my REAL room then this is the face I'd make: D:
Due to creative remote access and a conspirator with my house key, Iacon is back up. Windows Updates appear to be the culprit.
@yinyang: Actually, energy collectors are fairly balanced, being expensive and fairly slow; it's collectors that are overpowered, since any other mod will wreck all semblances of balance by being based around different resource values.
So.
Where do I download the version 1.2.5 again?

...Anvils are affected by gravity...and deal damage to living entities.
.....Yes! Yes! MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Made of iron blocks...well I can afford that, but still so much. And that they get DAMAGED is just sick.
And the levels required...>_> That it falls is nice...
But it and the enchanting tables and the villagers' expensive trades are BOTHERSOME.
Since 1.3, I don't think the levels are a stretch. I can hit level 30 without much effort doing mostly mining.
I do wonder about the odds of them spawning in blacksmith houses in villages.

The levels thing is still a bit fucked in how you can't combine certain items and/or not rename them as well in the process.
I also hope it won't entirely replace regular item repairing in the crafting grid...
A different shape every step I take A different mind every step of the lineI have a way to farm iron golems for iron in my SP world, so that's not too bad. But on the other case, man the doors are loud. Add the villagers constantly opening and closing them, and it gets painful. Even the Nether Portals are better-sounding than that.
MOJANG, LOWER THE SOUND OF DOORS! (Hm, who would be the best one to message it to? Jens, Dinnerbone or C418? Likely not C418, as I don't really need a new sound)
