Warning: Insane Troll Logic is legal here, though not required.

Y'know how G Chat turns asterisk-surrounded words into bold? And how people usually use asterisks to denote an action? And how people usually associate bold text with speaking more emphatically?

Well, they're trying to show that actions speak louder than words.

I was watching the first five or so episodes of Excel Saga, and I was wondering why they made Pedro the Butt Monkey. I didn't think it was that entertaining, funny, or relevant to the plot.

Then I realized... He was getting fucked over by the universe.

I never got it until I heard it explained before either. I don't think it's that big of a deal since I've probably heard the word Playstation long before workstation.

There's also the arrow hidden in Fed Ex, and the arrow from Amazon.com pointing from A to Z.

My best friends clued me in on this yesterday. In Wayne's World, when Garth is sitting in the donut shop repeatedly stabbing a jelly donut, the "MREE! MREE! MREE!" sound effect isn't the donut screaming. It represents the classic horror movie violin sting.

Granted, I've only watched that movie dozens of times over the years, so I can be forgiven for not catching on.

Yeah, I think that's what happened to me, too, since I was 5 when the PlayStation came to the U.S.

You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!
What did you think it was? Seconds?
Presumably, toastedness level. Of course, as discussed in the other topic, different amount of minutes in the toaster will result in different toastedness levels, so it's all OK.

^I always thought that too. But then, I grew up with a toaster that didn't have numbers on the dial; it had tick marks and little icons showing toast of various shade levels.

"Rednecks" from the south(east)ern United States are stereotyped with various traits, among which are:
  • being racist
  • enjoying NASCAR

You should be groaning in about five seconds.

I don't get it either, but that may be because I'm not American.

No, you don't need to be American.
