Ddddd I spent ages writing up a thread-starter for the show and then I find there is one already: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=14827853270A72868800&
If someone mod-like could change the title of it so it's searchable, that would be lovely.
I respect Warren Ellis, but the Game of Thrones reference has me worried. I hope they don't go overboard and add gratuitous sex and rape to what should be a high octane action horror show.
I hope this doesn't mean a scene where Dracula shouts "Play with her arse!"
Might have just been a point of reference since Go T is the most visible dark fantasy series atm.
I'm not convinced if Game of Thrones is a good comparison with Castlevania.
It never felt to me like pre-Lords of Shadow Castlevania took itself too seriously. Yes, you had gruesome monsters, epic plots, unsettling images... and you also had demon maids with vacuum cleaners or skeleton waiters serving curry. Go T, by comparison, always felt like it requires the reader/viewer to be serious (even if humor exists there).
I'm not sure I want any sex scenes in there either. >.> Gore is appreciated, since this is a part of Castlevania (even though gore usually varies from monster to monster).

grahYeah, losing the whimsy would be a huge loss. The most universally popular games are pretty heavy on the whimsy, with tons of joke monsters and some humor peppered in.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. There was that Succubus in the 2D/3D games...
The Protomen enhanced my life.Castlevania can be as silly or dark as it wants, and it's still Castlevania, as long as there's still some of the other. You get lots of gore like Bloodlines and the sacrifice intro with Rondo of Blood, but then you get stuff like Alucard eating peanuts in a chair while a cute little fairy is sleeping on his shoulder. Or Drac lamenting he's lost to a girl, and as he gives the usual "I'll be back" speech, Maria barely understands a word of it and calls him out on trying to sugarcoat that he's just a dick.
Huh. That fangame looks kinda cool. I like the original sprite work going on. And sexy voiced Belgrade returning is always a plus.
Nice to hear Conami aren't going to interfere. For all their bad decisions, I guess stifling dead franchise fan works isn't one of them? Or maybe they really are trying to redeem themselves.
I think that Netflix show will be quite serious. Maybe as serious as the original NES trilogy, which lacked the sillier aspects we love from the later games. I wanna be hype, but I've been burned too often. So I shan't.
So does POR make anyone else think of Rugrats?
"JONATHAN!" "CHARLOTTE!" "JONATHAN!" "CHARLOTTE!" "JONATHAN!" "CHARLOTTE!"
I just found out about an IDW Castlevania miniseries featuring Christopher Belmont! https://www.idwpublishing.com/product-category/castlevania-the-belmont-legacy/
The Protomen enhanced my life. The Belmont from the games nobody liked got a comic? Weird.
Hey, at least Christopher got the Adventure ReBirth "remake" that gives him a somewhat decent Classicvania game.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Belmont's Revenge was surprisingly solid too.
I hear the IDW comics take place in a wacky alternate continuity where Christopher was born and had adventures after Simon's time instead of before like the original game's canon said. So sadly the comic is probably not canon.
There's a person on twitter who's currently working on a rather neat idea: An Etrian-esque first-person dungeon-crawler remake of Castlevania 3
I had a really weird dream where Captain N's Simon Belmont was Christopher Belmont with amnesia.
The Protomen enhanced my life. They really fucked up hard with that one. Even with a protagonist that doesn't have a personality, they still found a way to mess it up, not that they cared about the source material in the slightest.
I've been playing Symphony DXC. It's really fun, well, up until I got to the inverted castle.
I'm looking forward to the illusion Cypha fight. I really like the Maria boss battle. It's easy, but it's a nice way to pace the game and it's cool you get to face her, even if she's using Saturn moves. Maria's one of my favorite characters, so yeah.
Also I just wanna say she's got great designs, both as a loli and a young woman in completely different ways.
The first poster for the Netflix Castlevania series just dropped online.
...The very dark, very grotesque, castle.
Castle is spot-on, real good poster. I'm more interested in seeing the character designs though.
I feel like the poster really highlights that Dracula's Castle is not a castle, but an incredibly ancient piece of Eldritch Location. The way it blatantly defies physics just resonates right with me.
grahLooks like Dracula's gotten greedy and demanded like FIVE throne rooms. What a guy.
I hope they have remixes of classic CV tunes play as they kick ass. I wonder who will be voicing the characters?
Also "creature of chaos" indeed.
Getting back into the series, this sounds like it'll be a lot of fun, hopefully.
I wonder if we'll get another game out of the interest brought about by the Netflix series. I wonder if it will suck.
this place needs me hereTHAT POSTER IS FUCKING STRONG
Warren Ellis apparently wrote some episodes; he was previously attached to write an animated Castlevania movie.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventure
