An overlord who doesn't follow the list is an overlord who stops being an overlord very soon. I think Vetinari is having quite enough fun, for example.

But he's only ruling a city (albeit it is Ankh-Morpork, so more than enough to deal with). The world's so complex that all that stress would be incredibly magnified, even with competent underlings. Or the lack of need to sleep.

I just don't get World Conquerors, I understand the desire to say... want a lot of things, like cars, castles and other objects, but true political power just seem... complicated.

Also, other thing I though and wanted to share. How hard is to make a way to seal a vampire's breath with a gas mask or something similar? I realized that they can re-use the air as much as they want to talk safely and this could be interesting.

I suppose, when it comes down to it, that really ruling the world would be being able to get whatever you want done wherever you want it whenever you want it.

Adding security in your position, fame as world conqueror, and loyalty from your subjects are more useful perks.

I just think that you can get most of the "Ruler of the World" benefits by other less complicated methods. I understand there are some perks exclusive to world domination, but when compared with the trouble to get them (and maintain) it doesn't sound worth.

There's a couple different types - you've got, what, political domination, economic domination, ideological domination? Probably more.

I wouldn't try for any of them either, though. It'd take a bigger ability to multitask than I have.

Maybe it's like that landowner from the late 1800s - he didn't want all the land, only all the land that was touching his.

So once he has a continent/island, he's pretty much okay.

Maybe Carlisle can buy him one.

But what if he starting to consider "underwater" a kind of land too?

And once he starts owning all the water around him?

HE'LL TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

Just had a thought. There is absolutely no reason that Elspeth can't project to an entire pack of wolves, provided they're all floofed. Considering she projects thoughts, and they project thoughts, it's less of a jump than Chelsea or Jane. So, really, what they need to do is grab one wolf from each pack (or insert one they already have on their side into a pack, if that's a thing they can do), and get Elspeth to poke them. Unless the Volturi have managed to get around their aversion to hurting Elspeth, she can deprogram an entire pack really easily.

Granted, if they refloof they'll be brainwashed again, and if these are wolves from an away team their imprints will still be in the village...an Addy has a good chance of working for the Volturi, again, and knowing that this is a possibility...

She's spent five and a half years believing that her love-beyond-love is dead, then a stint thinking the same of her daughter, the only person in the world who she can safely live around. It's frustrating, since we've gotten used to being inside her very accommodating head in Luminosity, but Tropes Are Not Bad. I realize you might not be saying it negatively, but it bears saying.

Given that she's still a thinker, just a squirrelly one at the moment, I think it's safe to assume she may make a comeback. If nothing else, she still has to rip Chelsea a new one.

I soooo want to see:

"Chelsea!" Elspeth shouts "Your love is fake, a lie, NO ONE REALLY LOVES YOU!"

bonus points if Afton is dead by that point.

I think that's a bit over-the-top. Afton hasn't done anything besides be Chelsea's mate. Chelsea certainly deserves anything she gets, but I think it would be rather morally questionable to get revenge on Chelsea by killing her mate.

Afton might do something bad in the future. He just said bonus points if, not that it was necessary.

He's her mate. Unless he isn't, she cares about him at least as much as anything else in existence.
