This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

You guys are ridiculous, I'm trying to be nicer this time can't I do that at least You you sound like jerks. Let me explain how do my message sound so bad? I don't get it am I writing badly. You're just as worse as the other guy is. I just wanted to get my editing writing back so I could apologize to fairy dreamer. I wanted to say "Hey I'm sorry this got out of hand and everything didn't mean to get so mad and all if you don't agree with me that's okay. Have a good day." And you won't even let me do that.
I am really starting to dislike the people who talked to me so far, you won't listen to me even when I'm starting to be calm. I just wanted to apologize for everything I did and how i messed up and get one last chance. I wasn't even gonna edit that much if you gave me my writing privileges back I was gonna do it if I wanted to add in an entry to dethronging moments of suck or wall bangers and even then it would be done really rarely. I am so saddened to see you people acting like this, incredibly saddened you make me disappointed in like this site. I wish I could take back all I did and I feel guilty about saying it but man I really am starting to dislike you and Fighteer who's mean and that Septimus guy because he's not really helpful and you because you don't even seem like you care. Hope I didn't natter.
God bless and can't wait to see the next message ).:
One more thing: Thanks for replying back anyways even if... it wasn't what I wanted to hear
Just to make the point one more time: even in your posts in this thread - for instance the last post - you have stuff like this:
as opposed to
and
instead of
I could go through the whole post (and your other posts here) pointing out mistakes like that in almost every sentence. You should get the point - your English isn't good enough for the Wiki, and frankly I don't think it's even good enough for the Fora.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.I could say so much right now to all of you and go off on some rant about how unhappy I am with how u went out your way to point out how my grammar sucks but I'm not. I give up, you proved your point and frankly I don't care, do whatever you want. I am truly done with this. I just wanted to apologize but u don't want me to do that do forget I hope you're happy. Hope u can go to sleep at night knowing what u did.
Bye and I dislike.u.
I've been working hard on trying to fix the tropes I've launched, but lately, haven't had any response.
Sometimes, you just can't win them all.Persistent Man: Mmmmm. Yeah. Bye-bye.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Okay, sorry about that. Seriously won't happen again unless one of my works somehow becomes legitimately famous on the Internet and someone makes a page for it or requests me to.
~xandermartin98: It's not just whether your work "becomes famous"; we don't give a damn about that. What matters is that it exists in a form that people other than you can see. Only published works get main wiki articles, regardless of whether that publication is in a bookstore or on fanfiction.net. The reason for this is that tropes should be verifiable.
Also, as previously stated, you are not allowed to add subjective (YMMV, Awesome, etc.) examples for your own work, nor can you add any subpages or crosswicks for works that are not published.
Are we clear?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I'm not trying to appeal this time. I'm just giving a status update, and I have bad news and good news.
The bad news is that I did, in fact, jump the gun a bit asking to appeal last time. What I was doing turned out to not work, so thank you for not letting me back in then.
The good news is that I think I've finally found what's wrong with me. I'm nowhere near ready to come back yet, but I might have things worked out in a couple months.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerHi guys,
So I suspect I've been banned for being excessively snarky about, or critical of, the IDF. As I understand it, this would fall under "bringing an outside agenda to the wiki". I do see the idea here, although I will say that including such a flattering page on the Israeli armed forces seems equally problematic to me. Anyway, I realize how pointless this kind of editing is; if nothing else, it's liable to spark an edit war. So if this was the issue leading to suspension, I'll just go back to being an activist in real life and stick to editing fiction pages
If it wasn't this, I'd imagine there's a problem with my indexing. I've been very busy recently, but if my editing privileges are reinstated, I'll catch up on indexing and cross-referencing right away.
Best wishes, and I look forward to hearing from you soon,
D503
"Don't use the phone. People are never ready to answer it. Use poetry." - Jack Kerouac~D503: You guessed correctly. Our Useful Notes articles are intended to be instructional for writers, helping them to present an issue, place, person, culture, etc. believably. They are not a place to get on your soapbox and carry out arguments that belong elsewhere.
We have a policy called Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgment to cover exactly this situation. (For the policy as it applies to people discussing fiction, see Righting Great Wrongs.)
Do us a favor and acknowledge reading that article, and we can reinstate your editing privileges. And I'll give you some advice: it's best to stay away from articles that push your activism buttons.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Thanks Fighteer - I appreciate the quick reply. I read the article and I understand the problem.
I have one observation, though: I understand that being unpleasantly sarcastic about the IDF is just inviting controversy. But some of my edits were simply factual, justified from a neutral standpoint, and these were deleted too. For example, I added Well-Intentioned Extremist to describe some of the militias that pre-dated the IDF. I gave context: these groups were fighting for a homeland, but they resorted to terrorism (assassinations, bombings, massacres, etc.) to achieve that. That's just the truth.
In contrast, the page currently includes Trigger-Happy, and says "Understandably so..." That strikes me as pretty damn subjective, given that Useful Notes are supposed to "debunk media stereotypes".
Now let me be clear: as I said, I'll stick to editing fiction from now on. Your advice is good, and I'll take it. I just respectfully question some of the moderator's calls on that page. If you have any insight into this issue, I'd be interested in hearing it.
Cheers,
D503

"Don't use the phone. People are never ready to answer it. Use poetry." - Jack KerouacYou may be right: if people are adding tropes to a Useful Notes article, that should be stopped. You may wish to take it to Trope Repair Shop — I thought we had a projects thread for cleaning these up, but I can't find it.
Anyway, I'll release your suspension.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I am just wondering why my editing privileges are suspended. Could anyone let me know what I did wrong?
This may not be fun...~The AAJ Yu: You were told last time not to spoiler-tag trope names. You seem to have forgotten that, as seen on Characters.Happiness Charge Pretty Cure. Second time, same problem. Same article, even.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Fighteer Oh...yeah I forgot. My apologies.

This may not be fun...So, as per instructions, I am posting here. What, may I ask, warranted suspension? And why was there no PM or warning beforehand?
Because the suspension is the "there's an issue with your behaviour that we need to discuss" warning. PMs and the like often get ignored.
As it stands, you've been edit-warring on YMMV.Runescape over a Creator's Pet entry.

"Yup. That tasted purple."I'm surprised that the bar is that low for something to be deemed an actual edit war. Then again, having seen them elsewhere, I can understand the need to be preemptive.
Creator's Pet has a dedicated cleanup thread due to chronic misuse. As with several such tropes that generate a disproportionate amount of shoehorned examples thanks to fans substituting emotional reactions in place of looking at the qualifying criteria, we take a dim view of people engaging in edit wars over them.
Also, the minimum required for an Edit War is three edits that are not discussed outside of the edit page itself.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hmm. The things you learn, even if it is the hard way.
If a game mechanic seems like a Creator's Pet, but clearly cannot be one according to the trope rules, where then does it fall? Scrappy Mechanic?
Summer Days: I took a look at your edits and all of the issues that have been cited with them are completely valid. At the risk of sounding too blunt, there is no way we can allow you to continue to edit the wiki if your edits are going to read like your posts in here, and that's aside from the other problems that led to your suspension. Nothing personal, a simple statement of fact; as Fighteer said, suspending tropers for poor grammar is something we're forced to do on a near-daily basis.
