This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Oooookay. I've just been informed that I've been suspended. This isn't the first time this has happened to me. This is however the first time I've been suspended where I have literally no idea at all why I'm being suspended. I've not been involved in any recent Edit War, can't recall doing or saying anything offensive recently. At this point, I'm wondering if this is just some kind of mistake.
Edit warring over a Felony Misdemeanor example on Characters.Harry Potter Hogwarts Students.
Given that your prior suspension was also over Harry Potter examples, I'm thinking this may have to be the last straw.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"You are incorrect, sir. My last suspension was not over Harry Potter examples, it was over an entry under the Shoot The Shaggy Dog page. You can find my first suspension being discussed on pages 51 and 52 of this very thread, where Harry Potter isn't even mentioned.
As for this current suspension. Recently I looked up that page and noticed the Felony Misdemeanor example had been removed. First, I looked up the History of the Edit page to see if a reason was given as to why it had been deleted. There was not. Then, I looked up Felony Misdemeanor to see if the definition had been changed in such a way that the Marietta example no longer qualified as a Type One example. Not only was that definition still in tact, but so was the Marietta example listed on that page. Someone had replied to the example in a way that I felt was a Justifying Edit, so I deleted it. Then I restored the Felony Misdemeanor example to the Characters Page. That's it. There has been no Edit War here.
Now you see, there's only one suspension listed for that handle on your file. The handle on pages 51 and 52, k9feline5, is still currently under suspension.
Now, is this an admission of ban evasion, or...?
"Yup. That tasted purple."Just as an FYI, that's incorrect. k9feline5 was suspended because the person who reported the edit war did so under the wrong handle. I fixed it.
Adding back an entry that was removed is edit warring, period. As for your previous suspension, I don't know if we discussed that item; it was noted in your record that, in addition to an edit war over Shoot the Shaggy Dog, you also had a problem with YMMV.Harry Potter.
Depending on how you count, this is either the second or third edit warring incident. Are we going to keep doing this again and again?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"In the first place, in regards to the k9feline5/7 confusion, I origionally posted as k9feline. Every now and then through the years, the wiki wouldn't recognize my sig or my password, so I just shrugged and typed up "k9feline2" and so on, and I could continue. There was no deception or ban evasion on my part.
"Adding back an entry that was removed is edit warring, period."
That strict, rigid, inflexible definition of what an edit war is is not on the Edit War page. If that's supposed to be the official rule of what an edit war is, then this Wiki doesn't do an adequate job of defining it. On my part, I posted in good faith, not intending this to be an Edit War, and judging by what I see on the Edit War page, it wasn't.
So my current suspension, as I see it, is based on a miscommunication of what my last suspension was about, and on a definition of Edit War that's not on the Edit War page. I sincerely wish I could feel I'm in the wrong about this, but I don't.
Cut it out with the rules lawyering. If an example is added, then removed, adding it back again constitutes an edit war, if not discussed beforehand.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Not sure what I did to get suspended...but I can make myself not repeat those mistakes.
Posting links to nude images in the Ménage à 3 article. Just because the subject of the article is NSFW doesn't mean that we can ignore the rules about posting such links.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I see...
Well, that's an easy enough mistake to correct.
I'll lift the suspension. Thanks for coming in to get the message about how important that stuff is.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyUh... I'd like to know why exactly am I suspended?

@Dancing Ninian: You are the second person in the past week to uncomment Zero Context Examples on the Hot Mom article, apparently not understanding why they were so.
Hot Mom is not about mothers that the audience finds attractive; it is only for mothers whose attractiveness is commented on In-Universe.
As this trope continues to be misunderstood despite cleanup attempts, I have locked it. You, however, uncommented ZCEs without adding context, which is an automatic suspension so we can explain how the process is supposed to work.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Um, so this is my first time being banned (maybe due to my edit regarding the 'Jeen' thing on the All -New X-Men page, which I acknowledge as a mistake on my part, as I somehow didn't get that it was a fan nickname) and I'd like to know why so I can make sure it doesn't happen again.

"There's a fine line between not listening and not caring. I like to think I walk that line everyday."@XSpectreGreyX: I'm glad you showed up. The reason for your suspension is that, while you were editing the WallBangers.Marvel Comics article, you deleted every instance of the word "Wolverine", like a search-and-replace gone bad.
We'd like to know what happened.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"@Fighteer: Wow, I honestly don't know. I guess it may be because I may have searched Wolverine on my iPad and maybe replaced it by accident? Although I don't think iPads have that function (that is, replacing. I don't think any browser has that functon). I can honestly say that I never intended to do that. Still, I'll be more careful in the future.

"There's a fine line between not listening and not caring. I like to think I walk that line everyday."I have an iPad and I have no idea how that would happen, either, but it did. Since it was an accident, I'll restore your editing privileges. Please be careful in the future.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I'm suspended, and I think I know why. Lately my edits have mostly been corrections, and the reasons have been... caustic, to say the least.
I apologize; I've been spending time on certain parts of the Internet where rudeness is the norm, and it's kind of carried over to here. I'll tone it down, and when I make a correction I'll just make a note of it rather than insulting whoever's error it is.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica! That's exactly why you're here. The wiki's cardinal conduct rule is "Don't be a dick" and that extends to edit reasons just as much as any other part of the wiki.
I'm glad that you've already recognized the issue, and your course of action is exactly what we like to see in edit reasons. I'll release the suspension.
I'm just confirming here: I lost my posting privileges for the second time for making messes with the broken mod tools, including unlocking and pinning a CV thread for a certain ecchi work.
I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful. That would be why, yes. That and making a thread to encourage others to mess about with them.
What part of "don't try to break the forum" gave you the problem?
Why did you think that was a good idea?

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Because, well, I couldn't resist sharing this "gift" with other tropers. It's obvious that this was a terrible idea.
Would it be safe to say that I shouldn't even bother attempting to appeal for my posting or editing priveleges, or any others, or else the notorious "Find Something Else to Do" bounce would be forced upon me?
I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful.Ah, yeah. That's about right.
I say "about", because you're going to be bounced. That was very close to the dickest of dick moves I've ever encountered.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
Alright, last chance. You have two strikes, let's not add a third.
