We have determined that Lets Players are not inherently tropable. They need to provide some sort of narrative, characters, and story to be allowed on this wiki. This applies to Vtubers just as much as other content creators, but Kayfabe makes the distinction between streamer and character particularly fuzzy.
The purpose of the thread is to remove tropes from pages concerning Vtubers that apply only to the actor rather than the character.
- If there is not a clear separation between the character and the actor, we assume that it is the actor represented, and thus they are not tropable.
- In other words, it is up to the user writing the example to show that it pertains to the character and not the actor.
- Regardless, the content they produce must meet our standards for Web Video, meaning substantial original and/or transformative material.
- A vlog, review, or Let's Play does not become tropable just because the person doing it has an anime avatar.

Yes, I'd say so. Her sisters have gotten actual artwork depicting them as demons, so maybe they can stay? But her father coming from a family of 12 kids stuff is fully IRL

hololive - Mori Calliope Ch.'s page mentioning her as a Kindhearted Cat Lover is IRL troping, I think.
That one may be in the grey area, since one of her cats "Ghost Cat" is depicted as being an actual ghost that she picked up from the Underworld or something

In Juniper Actias, I have seen lots of real life troping about the person who is playing this character. I guess I can cut them all?

With regards to Juniper's height. She often talks about how tall she is IRL and uses her height as part of her character. We have clips of that to the point where her height is part of her character identity now. How much of that would it be considered as real life troping? Because from my perspective, this kind of blurs the lines a bit.

A lot of Vtubers are playing a persona but openly admit that the persona is based on their real traits, either magnified or made into a fantasy metaphor. I think we can add that in as long as the entry focuses on the persona. But it has to be acknowledged by the performer in that role, and troping someone's real appearance is absolutely out of bounds.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.
How sweet it is
We'll need to look through Amane Kanata's folder in hololive Japan - Generation Four. I was adding a trope regarding her appearance during the Countdown event, and I saw a ton of examples regarding her real life.

So, the following was added (pre-commented, which was a mistake to begin with) on Characters.V Shojo to Nazuna's folder:
- Language Barrier: Nazuna admits that the language barrier is a major factor in her decision to leave VShojo. She clearly wants to collaborate with the other members of VShojo, but her limited grasp of English has gotten in the way, and she had to resort to interacting with them using translators.
I'm not sure if this is straying too far into RL to make it valid...thoughts?

She broke NDA by leaking information to a third party. But it seems like it was an accident on her part, so Cover is being really nice about it and let her post a goodbye statement on her Twitter. It’s also said her termination was a “mutual decision”

Thanks for the clarification. I just haven't been in the loop for a while when it comes to VTuber related dramas/contract terminations and, judging by the way the Harsher in Hindsight entry is written and the previous two comments, I thought something horrible happened to her that caused her to get fired. Especially since this happened in the first month of this year.
I'm not even kidding when I say the whole Rushia drama and especially her termination from hololive caused me to jump out of the VTuber rabbit hole. Rushia was (and kinda still is) my favorite VTuber of all time, not just in hololive, and I even cried when I first heard about the news. I'm sorry if this may sound personal, but the whole shitstorm made me more reluctant to stay in the rabbit hole for much longer or even enjoy their content.

I think Amanda Lee needs a cleanup, I think, since it's a mix of tropes about the IRL AmaLee herself, the music she's output prior to her Vtuber debut, and her Vtuber OC Monarch.

I'm convinced the same tropers inevitably add the same problematic entries regarding terminations and graduations. We've had that happen with Rushia two years ago. Then Sana. Then Magni and Vesper. It's like Amonimus's edit reason for deleting Mel's HIH entry doesn't count for squat if ~Arachnos can re-add it quickly after.

I saw it. Of course someone would re-shoehorn the shoehorn. They didn't even get the year right (Cover was founded in 2016; the hololive agency was formed in 2017 with Tokino Sora; Mel joined hololive in 2018, and had her contract terminated this year in 2024, so it's hard to believe that someone would get fired before they even join the agency).
