I saw this tweet a week ago and was thinking about it:

Ok you can choose any intellectual property to have its own high-budget theme park, regardless of financial viability or cultural relevance. What is it

So, TV Tropes, your answer? Doesn't matter if it's actually going to be successful. You can be serious or you can give a joke answer, I don't really care.

I shared it with my family over text and some of the answers we came up with were Austin Powers and National Lampoon's Vacation.

Titan Quest, mostly because it already has separate “lands”.

Thinking about what a Discworld theme park would be...

The main hub is Ankh-Morpork, with the mountains of Lancre, the desert of Klatch, Cori Celestis and a few other locations around it. The staff are in Watch uniforms. In Ankh-Morpork you have several iconic buildings and a churning mud channel to represent the river. The Shades is its own little ride in which you walk through dark, narrow alleys and hear commotions that you can never quite see clearly.

Of course you could try to recreate some major moments, but my preference would be for some original plotlines. Something like: a tour of Cori Celestis shows the gods putting on an air of majesty and wisdom, but it soon becomes obvious that they are a squabbling lot who play games with mortals because they have nothing better to do. Then when you visit the other areas, you see events that are caused by these games you saw. (This should work whatever the order in which you visit them.)

There are witches putting on magic displays, where the point is that they are tricks but are amazing to watch nonetheless. HEX is an actual computer that can take inputs from guests and give a cogent answer, or at least show some method to its nonsense outputs. The library at Unseen University (with its animatronic librarian) can explain the stories to anyone not familiar with them by means of talking, video-projecting books chained to their shelves. And the thrill ride will take you below the Disc, to see the elephants and Great A'tuin in all their cosmic glory!

Yup, I think there's a lot that could be done with a Discworld park.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.

Awful Hospital theme park time!! I think it should be huge and have different sections based on different story arcs.

A rollercoaster ride through the Inert Vessel would be rad. I'd also like one based on the Blindtrain where you can experience the horrors the Grey Zone has succumbed to. On a lighter note, for the patient rooms Broken Bone Bros Bargain Blast can be a souvenir shop where you can buy merch and real versions of important/iconic items. Burgrr Inc can be a cafeteria area (don't worry, the food is safe...I think.)

Not Awful Hospital but still Noisy Tenant; I'd like a haunted house based on Don't Get Spooked.

I once had a dream that there was a Namco theme park, with a lot of Klonoa-themed attractions.

He may be a giant, nightmarish brute, but like all villains in this series,he sure can sing.

Poltergeist: The Legacy. I don't know what kind of attractions there would be, but why not?

I think that an attraction at Universal Studios based on The Croods would be pretty awesome.

I think I covered this one in the bad idea thread:Todd in the Shadows' One Hit Wonderland as a theme park, with rides based on songs/artists he's covered in those videos. Butthole Surfers could be a water slide that goes through a giant butt sculpture etc.

On a more serious note I tried to just apply this to the last thing I watched and came up with something that might be kinda cool: a Theater In The Round, ExtraTERRORestrial style attraction based on From Beyond. The premise would be an experiment with the resonator gone wrong, and like with ExtraTERRORestrial the audience would be strapped into their seats in a dark theater, where they'd use concealed speakers, mist, rumbling seats etc to make you feel like there's Eldritch Abominations loose in the room. Probably could be part of a larger, sci-fi horror theme park, maybe one specifically based on other Lovecraft adaptations.

I'd also like to make one based on The Guild.

Let's have a TVT theme park. It'd be wacky and meta, but all the rides would be held together with Elmer's Glue and dreams, and they'd all be based on random works that aren't popular anymore. tongue
