"Moments" cleanup and maintenance (Awesome, Funny, Heartwarming, Shocking, Tear Jerker)

• Tear Jerker: Let's address the elephant in the room: Generation 5 is a Distant Sequel to Friendship Is Magic. At least five of the Mane 6, who we grew to love over the course of nearly a decade, are D-E-A-D. So are their families, their friends in Ponyville, and the students at the School of Friendship. We have no idea what happened to Celestia and Luna, but we know Discord is now a bitter, broken shell after so many years of loss and suffering. And the harmonic legacy the Mane 6 left behind? Gone, replaced by an era of prejudice. Surprisingly depressing for a franchise iconic for its idealism.

I believe this is misuse as the whole premise is not a moment (a seems too close to meta). Also, "Surprisingly depressing for a franchise iconic for its idealism" is misleading as G5 is as idealistic only occasionally delving into that aspect of it's premise, which is less frequently than Friendship Is Magic had Tear Jerkers. It also seems closer to Fridge outside of specific moments. Cut?

Yep that definitely reads for a cut, there's far too much extrapolation into the concept of mortality in MLP for it to be really relevant.

I don't really see what's funny. Every knight in the game is a centaur, then what? Where's the joke?

Jingo takes the statue back to Crossbell, figuring that she'd get the best price for it in Mishy's homeland. Who is it that bursts through the door of Neinvalli to check it out the moment word of it being for sale gets out? Tio. And what does Tio offer? A Bobcat-class airship abandoned by Marquis Ballad because he had purchased it in defiance of a warning from Beryl to be careful with spending, resulting in him becoming a Cosmic Plaything. This is a fair deal as far as Tio's concerned, because the Epstein Foundation has no use for the ship but can't justify scrapping it due to the cost and its condition, and the Retro Mishy statue is literally one-of-a-kind. As for Marquis Ballad...

The DCU and Marvel Universe both have moments subpages with examples despite the fact that they're franchise pages not a single work (and don't share their name with a work, like, say, Franchise.Superman), and thus can't have "moments" proper that aren't in one of the works themselves, and most, if not all, examples already have their own pages.

Am I ok to move examples to their respective work pages (cleaning up ZCEs, non moments and all ofc)? I plan on remaking the pages to be indexes of the moments subpages from the separate works (like other similar franchise pages do, and even DCU does, although alongside the examples themselves).

Following up on some discussion on the non-fiction cleanup thread and a similar addition to the Nightmare Fuel trope page, would there be any concerns if we add something like this to the end of the Tear Jerker page intro?

If that sounds ok, we'll also run it past Trope Description Improvement Drive before adding it.

So I was looking at Heartwarming Moments and read the rules, and while most of them make sense (and one is a pun), the 3rd one raised my eyebrow. What, exactly, is it saying? What constitutes a moment that's too cliche to count? I understand the idea that a cliche moment may come off as insincere, but who decides what counts as an "original" heartwarming moment?

Those rules read more like a So You Want To guide than actual rules anyway, but my reading is that the moment should be heartwarming because it stems from the characters/situation, and not just throwing in, say, a cute puppy that we've never seen before for a cheap aww. Glurge feels related.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

But that's already covered by the other rules.

In general I think some pages for Franchise.Phineas And Ferb overall feel much too hating towards Phineas when he actually gets angry which would be fair since those moments are mostly for special episodes and movies (a fact called to in one such episode). But with edits like this on the page for Awesome.Phineas And Ferb The Movie Across The2nd Dimension, that's when it starts getting suspicious.

Because in any other instance, it’s essentially wishing a child dead because he yelled at someone which doesn’t really have a high justification. Permission to remove?

Yeah, I think it's better to do so.

So I went to Awesome.The Flash 2023 page and it considers all the CGI reconstructed cameos as awesome. If anyone knows the circumstances of the cameos, many of these people whose faces are being used did not consent to this, especially first example George Reeves since he hated his role and it is very much speculated that he killed himself afterward since being Superman damaged his careeer. I know there were rounds on the internet saying that who portrays Jay Garrick was not told he would be an AI construct without his permission at all. And Nicholas Cage implies in interviews he was misled on his cameo. Adam West and Helen Slater being there may or may not have been consented from their estates, though it still presents the implication that reconstructed cameos of actors living or dead should be supported for "awesome" value. Would have been fine if it was archival footage, but this goes uncomfortably beyond that.

Heartwarming.Futurama has an entry for "Zapp Gets Cancelled" that says "Zapp actually learning his lesson and becoming a better person at the end." However, I don't really think this is the intended reading of the episode — IIRC, he does kind of formally apologize at the end, but the joke is he's hijacking another conference to do it, and more damningly, multiple interviews from staff members have claimed this lesson doesn't really stick / Zapp never really changes. In the episode itself he does stand up against someone worse than him, and it indicates he's not gonna say cruel stuff as much, but he's still Innocently Insensitive at best.

But this is YMMV and the material disproving the point is external, so it's more that it's not disproven yet but will likely be disproven in future episodes, and I've only seen the episode once so I may be misremembering. So... ?

I lean towards cutting it, since it's likely a misunderstanding of the episode.

• You might not believe it, but Ojamajo Doremi has one. And it is Robo-Doremi◊◊. While in the illusion of a comic book, Doremi/Dorie gets turned from a little dog inexplicably into a giant robot. She even fights giant space aliens and causes massive explosions. However, what makes it a crowning moment is when she imitates the time when the RX 78-GUNDAM stood for the first time, pretty much frame by frame. Finishes with a classic gaze into the sunset and narrator's commentary. Considering how the rest of the show is, it's pretty awesome. Anyone got a better crowning moment?

I have a love and hate relationship with this entry. This entry IS an awesome moment but its filled with "EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Girl-Show Ghetto show EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWW!!! SO LAME LITTLE GIRLS HAVE COOTIES". I want to have help to chainsaw the bad parts without ruining the entry or leaving a rude edit reason.

What page is this on? I can see cutting the "believe it or not" and "considering the rest of the show" parts as complaining and the master sentence as natter, but the rest looks okay.

(x3) I agree it sounds valid but I'd cut the last two sentences and the "You might not believe it" to remove complaining. Plus, I heard we're not allowed to add rhetorical questions.

Laconic.Tear Jerker says it just involves sad moments but the main page suggests moments that are sad enough to make one cry. It also says it involves "depressing things" when I didn't see the main article mention that. Should I revert the definition part back to this version? If not, should it be rewritten?
