Tear Jerker / My Happy Marriage

Go To

Cinderella backstories aren't exactly known for being cheerful, but that doesn't mean some aren't sadder than others as My Happy Marriage shown.

  • Miyo comes home one day to find all of her mother's belongings missing: she (almost certainly) correctly guesses that her stepmother is responsible, and confronts her on this. In response, her stepmother locks her in a storage shed until well-after dark. Her place in the Saimori home only gets worse from there, and Hana, the closest person she had left to a maternal figure, was fired soon after.
  • By the start of the story, Miyo is a broken shell of a girl. She's borderline suicidal, her self-esteem is practically non-existent, and she's given up on any hope that her life will get better.
