Either's good with me.
1.2 is a horrible, bad case of Floating Head Syndrome. With that in mind, vote to revert to 1.1 / O.P.'s original picture, which is better-quality (doesn't have the terrible artificially increased contrast levels leading to the Floating Head Syndrome 1.2 has).

I like 1.1 but I don't know if they would be able to properly format the image due to the dimensions. Here are some other alternatives that could work.
I vote to revert back to the pic I uploaded. Last I checked, there was no watermark, as I got that off a wiki (one of the Star Wars wikis, as a matter of fact.)
I've also sent an Image Change notifier to the person who changed it, along with a follow-up PM asking him to come here.

Guy who added 1.2 here. My main concern was making it match the format of every other Star Wars character page image (300x300 with a 5-pixel black border).
There was kind of an epidemic at the time of poorly-formatted mismatching images (the Clone Troopers page was particularly bad about it; one character had four low-res images of different size ratios displaying all of the costumes he wears) and I was going on a sweep of a bunch of pages. I don't really care what image is used, as long as it fits with the rest.
For the record, I got my image from a direct screngrab of a youtube clip of the "I am the Senate" scene.

I can shrink the dimensions of 1.1 if we need to.
What do you think?
I prefer 1.2. Sitting in that chair and that look is probably the best for the page.
The extreme closeup of 1.1 kinda sucks.
My favorite is 4.3 for the brighter colors to contrast the dark evil emperor picture on the page, although I think pretty much all of the pictures posted so far are more or less equivalent.
This signature says something else when you aren't looking at it.to 4.2 (as well to 1.2, again) for bad Floating Head Syndrome / gratingly high contrast levels. 4.1 and 4.3 are o.k., 1.1 looks best.
Let's go for a crowner.
My main concerns with 1.1 and 4.1 is that if we shrink them to the proper dimensions they'll be super close-up shots of his face, which is kind of awkward IMO. I'm down for 4.3 or a new one, if anyone else feels like contributing.
EDIT: Went ahead and formatted all the suggested replacements for the hell of it —

Voted for my original pic. That's the one that looks the most evil to me.
Thanks, it's hooked.
So, revert back to the old pic?
What about the Palpatine pic of him from Return of the Jedi that is on the page?
That's a whole other issue I have with the Star Wars Character pages. At some point there was this sudden, unspoken decision that every character who appeared in multiple "eras" needed a picture of each appearance.
I can get that when they look extremely different (like here with Palpatine, or with the OT heroes in the Sequel Trilogy), but then you also get stuff like Mon Mothma's entry where you have two pictures that look near-identical, or Wulff Yularen's entry where you have one picture from an animated series and one from an actual live-action movie.
It's inconsistent, too - Tarkin for example appears several times as a young man in TCW but his entry only uses a picture of him from ANH, and several entries can't decide whether to put the pictures in chronological order (like Yularen's entry) or in production order (like Mothma's entry).

I've brought that up in Ask The Tropers

if 1:1 becomes the image, I think a good alternate caption would be
I think I have been visting /r/prequelmemes a little too much...
Yeah, you have. As much as I like silly captions for silly things, the Star Wars pages are pretty consistent in using regular old quotes for page captions, and I think the current one works fine.
Alright, so I do know that Luke's page has been divided in Original and Sequel Trilogy folders, and each have their own pic. We can do the same for Palpatine regarding the Prequel and Original Trilogies as well.
Votes bump; three in the green, two in consensus range.
Time to call this one. The new pic's in and tagged; locking up.

Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
Okay, so about a year ago, I added an image of pre-disfigurement Emperor Palpatine smiling evilly to his character page in Star Wars. About a month ago, however, Dirtyblue929 changed the image.
I do not believe this has been brought up here, but if it has, please tell me.
Top was the older image, which replaced a poor image. Bottom is the new one that is currently on the page.
