Rename "You know, that thing where..."

I disagree with "Trope Launchpad". The word looks like a product or company name to me, and in general just looks kinda ugly.

"Trope Launch Pad" also stylistically fits with things like "Trope Repair Shop".

What would you think of a new crowner, Launch Pad or Launchpad after this one?

I think it looks better as separate words. "Trope Launchpad" just looks weird to me.

+1 to "Trope Launch Pad" over "Trope Launchpad".

Speaking of the vote, it's probably time to call it at this point. The crowner was supposed to go on until at least March 7th, and I think we're good.

Trope Launch Pad has been in the lead since the very first day, With well over a hundred votes cast, it's rarely gone below a 3:1 upvote/downvote ratio (currently it's at 3.29:1). Trope Lab has been its closest competition, but it's been below the minimum 2:1 ratio for over a week. The site-wide bulletin announcing the potential rename of YKTTW has been in place for nearly a month. I think it's fair to say we've reached consensus on this.

I concur, especially seeing how for the last few days, Trope Launch Pad has been slowly rising, while Trope Lab was slowly going down. I don't think we'll get any more surprise changes.

No harm in letting it sit for a couple more days to be sure.

This result is very strong. I think it is already time to call it.

Agreed that we can call it. If the ratios had been moving up or down we'd give it more time, but Trope Launch Pad has been leading by a sizeable margin for basically the entire time.

I suppose it would help to make a list of everywhere "YKTTW" is referenced. Obviously there's the page itself, the top bar there, the site-wide sidebar, and locked pages like YKTTW Guidelines and other wicks. Where else?

Surprisingly, the full title of You Know That Thing Where has no wicks of its own.

I don't find it all that surprising, it is a mouthful.

Frankly, I think apart from the main Administrivia pages and the sidebar we can probably just change it on when-you-see-it basis, and leave YKTTW as an alias for now, maybe with a "fix if found" note, like Lucifer page has.

So I guess we should work on actually getting the name changed now that we've settled on one?

Holler received, probably not going to be implemented anytime soon however. So not calling yet.

I noticed that the name will need to be changed in the headers of Ask The Tropers and Trope Finder.

I feel like updating the bulletin to mention there's a crowner is a good idea.

Honestly, I stopped checking the topic when it was just page after page of name suggestions with no sign of actual progress.

Since this is such a big rename, I just think it's important to get all the feedback we can (and this is coming from someone who voted for the current frontrunner).

I did deliberately not mention the crowner, to reduce the amount of drive-by voters who don't read a discussion before voting.

Well, I suppose you could always tell your friends. At this point, I think the only people who don't know about this are the people who don't look at the bulletin board.

I think it is worth noting that Trope Lab has beaten the 2:1 limit. We could end up with an alias! It is a good one too.

Trope Lab is teetering on the edge. It's below 2:1 now.
