There's certainly substantial overlap between the two tropes, since making your Villain The Faceless is one obvious way to keep them Hidden, but they're not the same.
The opening line of the description for Hidden Villain states "A situation where a Big Bad exists in the Story Arc, but his identity is not known until much later", so I don't see where this dispute about The Reveal being necessary or not is coming from.
But even it it weren't, the double image illustrates the distinction with The Faceless better and shows it as a narrative trope, which is always a plus when tropes partially overlap.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"The suggestion in 19 does not obviously depict a villain.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.^ I'd disagree with that. The setting is so sinister that there's not much he could be other than the shadowy leader of a Nebulous Evil Organization.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I think the visuals work well enough in its favor to make it at least a decent proposal.
Crowner?
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I suppose so..."no pic for now" should definitely be one of the options.
And hooked, thanks.

One more bump; two in the green, one in consensus range.
"It was me, James. I was the architect of all your pain."
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Works well enough for me.

The reveal is part of the trope description. How would you contrast the two tropes in question?
