What happens if the Senate's majority doesn't vote in favour of the impeachment?

[up]Fitting tune.

[up] In this case, Dilma would remain president.

The sad thing is, I don't think people learn.

Can you guys think of another country that was all about blaming the current government for their complex array of problems during the middle of a horrible recession and what happened afterwards when they elected a bunch of fascists into power? Oh wait. I'm trying not to be hyperbolic about this, but we're dealing with people who lionize war criminals. Our country is in a horrible place right now and I am very afraid.

[up][up]Yes, but that happening is really improbable right now. In order for the procedure to go ahead they just need a minumum of 41 votes. According to the polls there are 46 and that is not even taking into account the ones that didn't decide yet. After this last episode these numbers may inflate even more.

The chances of these people having a crisis of conscience and telling Temer to fuck off is astronomically low.

The sad part is even if this impeachment didn't go through, I feel it'd only delay the inevitable.

Totally. At this point there are other allegations against her that were not written in the current attempt of impeachment back when it was originally made. The only reason they are not officially there as well is because adding them to the charges would reset the entire on-going process. Of course, if the current attempt doesn't work, they will most likely make another one that will include literally everything against her.

There's that but I was thinking long term. Even if this got shot down today, and Dilma rode out the rest of her term, what would our 2018 elections be like? PT has no power anymore. I fear we would have probably have elected someone horrible and we'd be in more or less the same spot we are now.

Damn son, the impeachment is so near I can taste it.

CONSEQUENCES WILL NEVER BE THE SAME, BECAUSE YOU DONE GOOFED!

So long so long thanks for all the bribes.

The fecal matter has achieved contact with the atmospheric rotating oscillator.

Dilma being impeached is a very safe bet after this, the senate will has already enough pro-impeachment senators to guarantee she will be kicked out of presidency.

Well if so this is Cunha and Teme's theme when the PMDB turned against the PT.

Which brings me to this lovely graph to explain the current political situation. It says:

Worker's Party - The Starks (i.e those who are pretty much crumbling)

PSDB - The Lannisters (i.e the ones for Screw The Rules We Have Money).

Fascist coup d'etat - The White Walkers (i.e the Godzilla Threshold Ultimate Evil)

Communist coup d'etat - Daenerys Targaryen (i.e the other Godzilla Threshold, if somewhat more well intentioned)

Evangelical Policinans - Melisandre (i.e The Fundamentalist Knight Templar Burn the Witch! fellow)

People Without A Party (before becoming servants of the coup d'etat, according to the image) - The Wildlings (i.e the True Neutral who ends up as Unwitting Pawn to the fascist coup d'etat).

Globo TV (the most powerful newstation) - Lord Varys (i.e The Spymaster Playing Both Sides ).

Veja (a major journal) - Littlefinger (i.e Despotism Justifies the Means and Chaotic Evil).

I don't necessairily agree, but it always makes me chuckle. The Varys-Globo comparison in particular is stuck in my head. I now always picture Globo justifying its slandering news with "I did what I did to serve the Realm."

"All you Fascists bound to lose."

More accurately it would have been PMDB instead of the PSDM since it is the former that does hold both money and power within our politics and being well known backstabbers.

Yes it is, it is no secret PT used the endemic corruption it sought to fight in order to gain influence and power, their major mistake as being too confident on their ability to buy support with the corruption schemes their allies are involved with.

So, the news in Argentina are saying Dilma said she would resign and call for elections in october, is that true? and should that happen, who's likely to win?

[up]Yes it is true, she is considering resigning and calling for new elections. However no one is sure if she can really do that and in the event of new elections Lula would be a strong candidate but then due to his involvement in propping Dilma to the presidency, aggressive militancy and his involvement in corruption schemes turned a good size of the public opinion against him, as well no people not really wanting him to get a third term.

The opposition wouldn't get a a real strong candidate either but Marina da Silva is betting on the emergency elections and is already positioning herself as a candidate.

Well, it's over. Game over. Also, all new ministers are men, and Hitler Ate Sugar is apparently a valid tactic for the new opposition, that begins to compare Temer to Geisel, the last president to not have women as ministers ,and that was also a dictator....

[up] Honestly, I've lost so much faith in this country that I don't even care about most of the things that happen to it anymore.

well, except if it devolved into a dictatorship.

Sick of everything.
