Not Thriving: Mulder Moment

During a recent Lost & Found, I came across this trope, which appeared very empty, with only three examples from works other than X-Files, and the last two edits were only to add namespace, with the previous edit being in 2013. There are only 16 incoming wicks, and Agent Mulder isn't one of them.

If this is a noteworthy trope and doesn't exist in another page, it needs quite a bit of work. If it is not a noteworthy trope, or is a duplicate trope of another, more popular page, it should be deleted.

I always thought that all these discussion threads with only one post hadn't been opened, and I never looked at them.

Now it turns out that some of them have been opened. Seems like it's time to look at all fifty-plus one-post threads on the page.

Topic: I agree, this trope should be cut.

I've noticed that people would list Mulder Moment as an instance of Agent Mulder trope for a character that usually behaves like Agent Scully.

I wouldn't mind expanding this trope, but cutting would do as well.

Looking at the thread, the examples are too minimal. Also, the lack of wicks from works not listed is not helping this case.

I'll support a cut.

Send back to YKTTW IMO.

There is a concept there, a polarized pair suddenly switches roles for a moment basically. Such as a Boke and Tsukkomi Routine if the Boke suddenly pulls a Tsukkomi on the one who normally is the one to pull the Tsukkomi or if a Seme and Uke switch roles for a bit, Red Oni, Blue Oni swap roles and such.

[up] I definitely agree. There are other tropes that could be related to this concept, either as subtropes or sister tropes. Two examples that come to mind are Perspective Reversal and Hourglass Plot.

Now that I think about it, we could see how it fares in YKTTW. It may be what it needs to survive.

That's not a bad idea.

This is why nothing ever happens in TRS. We get consensus to cut a trope that, frankly, needs cutting—hardly any listed examples or inbound links, apparently did not go through the YKTTW process—then somebody says hey, let's take it to YKTTW instead. Then the discussion ends.

Cut this trope pronto. Then anybody who wants can start a YKTTW to see if there's anything to salvage.

I'm not sure why those are treated as exclusive options.

Cut the trope, and if someone wants to salvage it via YKTTW, they're free to do it.

[up]Exactly. Break out the cutting shears, close this thread and relieve a little of the TRS backlog, then tally ho to YKTTW as desired.

Ok, so: Cut current page and if someone wants to run through YKTTW they shall do so?

I can go with that. Particularly since the trope has almost no examples and has an incredibly obtuse name, I don't see a reason not to cut it.

OK, so cut it is. If someone wants to run it through YKTTW they can do, but this TRS will not wait for that.

It's been dewicked and added to the cutlist.

I've added the note on the discussion and cut the page. Locking now; if someone wants the source text of the page call a moderator.
